Writing Challenges I'm Doing This Year
So I went ahead and signed up for the Marvel Big Bang and the Harlequin Big Bang. LOL!! I know, I know, pretty crazy but there you go. I have the stories in development, one I had already an idea for but the other one is a newbie.
Tentatively the story I'm going to write for the Marvel Big Bang:
Title: Down the Valley of Elah
Fandom: X-Men Comicverse
Summary: Scott has to rebuild his life on the ashes of his Phoenix possession, the death of the man that was his father in fact if not in blood and the shattering of most relationships he’s ever had. Scott is acquitted of the crimes he committed under the influence of the Phoenix. AvX Consequences AU.

Author’s Notes: I initially got this idea about writing a X-Men series centered around Scott Summers as the mood strikes me but that didn’t quite work out. As anyone who knows me knows that I hated, HATED AvX and everything that came afterwards. So this is another way of working through my massive anger issues, :D. This story is written for the Marvel Big Bang and takes place in a AU of AvX Consequences. I always wondered why Scott didn’t get a trial and this is kind of the way, based on a lot of research and discussions, I think it could go.

Summary: After Meredith’s father commits suicide after nearly gambling away all the family’s fortune, Meredith is forced into an unfathomable choice: marry the miscreant Mr. Koyla to save her sister’s future, their family’s reputation and dwindling fortune or fall into complete destitution. To further complicate matters, John Sheppard, Meredith’s childhood friend and the son of the powerful Lord Sheppard, returns after nearly a decade away, unrecognizable and with a dark agenda of his own. Harlequin AU.

Author’s Notes: When I was reading a harlequin story, this idea just got stuck in my head. Originally I was going to do another story for the Harlequin Big Bang, but this was just too good not to do it. A lot of the warnings are not going to be anything graphic, just FYI. Matthew Sheppard belongs to Keira Macros and her idea of having Patrick Sheppard played by Viggo Mortensen. This is a always female Meredith McKay done in a period of time similar to Jane Austen's novels but with my own twist on it so any historical inaccuracies are ignored and/or purposely done. :p
