readings placed beyond normal operational levels: shit filled abscess.
finding strength to turn the page and burn the previous entries: elaborate minimalism.

Reed is a good college (I'd say it is the best in Portland although Lewis & Clark College is great as well). Its campus is nice and there's many events happening on it during the weeks such as concerts (hardcore/punk/metal/indie/etc.), guest speakers, etc. It is located in SE Portland and not that close to downtown but not too long if you take a bus. The Hawthorne shopping district (you'll love that area the most) is about 20 blocks north so a bit of a little bike ride but easy enough to get to. A number of house/basement shows happen in N Portland which is a ways away from Reed College but once you have the bus schedule down they're hardly trouble getting to. Plus, there's house shows that happen in SE along Division (several blocks north of Reed) and the area so there will be plenty to entertain yourself with once you get into the swing of things. The Willamette river is a few blocks to the west of Reed and there's some beautiful parks further south along the waterfront such as Peter Kerr Park. What other colleges are you looking at?

Hm...Bennington (Vermont), Swarthmore, Hampshire (Amherst, MA), Columbia (this is a stretch, to say the least), I don't fuckin know really...Graduation seems so far away. But I keep hearing loads of good things about Reed.
