Well, I have arrived back in the good ol' U.S. Lemme tell ya a bit about my adventure from Japan to the States. I'm a little fuzzy right now, so I may miss some things. Me and Jake were on the same flight to Chicago. After which he went to Nebraska and I back here to Georgia. We took the Narita limosine bus from Machida to the airport at 9:20 in the morning. We got to the aiport at around 12, 12:30 or so. Our flight wasn't until 2:20, so that gave us plenty of time to get through security and whatnot. Which was a good thing, cause that turned out to be a pain. I apparently brought a lot of metal back with me. They insisted on locating each object and removing them from my backpack and then scanning it again. We spent five minutes trying to find and obscure rectangular object that turned out to be the pins to a photo frame I got from a friend. After that, I could never get my bag packed as well as it was before everything was pulled out. After security and checking our bags in, we went to wait by our terminal. We had over an hour before they began boarding, so we went to get snacks. I bought a watch while waiting. I needed to break my 10,000 yen bill to pay Jake back for the bus ticket, since the only other bill I had was a 1,000. Since we got to the airport as early as we did, we managed to get seats next to each other which made the plane ride much more pleasant.
The flight from Japan went well, despite my turbulance scare near the beginning. The plane shook a lot, which is something I've never experienced. It takes a lot more than that to knock a plane out of the air, but it didn't stop it from being scary. It was at that point that I caught sight of the sunset, so that helped calm me a lot. I took pictures of it. I managed to sleep a bit, but I was restless a lot. We landed at about 11:45-12:00ish, which was a bit later than expected, I think. My next flight started boarding at 12:45, so I had to hurry. We had to re-check in our luggage, so we waited by the luggage pick-up place. It took a while to get my stuff, I don't think I got it until around 12:30. Me and Jake said goodbye there, since his luggage hadn't shown up yet. I quite hurried through customs (there was no line), rechecked in my luggage and took the train to terminal 1. I stood in line for security and made it through at about 1:05, my plane was due to leave at 1:15. By the time I made it to my terminal, my plane had left. I managed to jump on the next one, which didn't leave until 5:00, 45 minutes behind schedule due to other late planes. Actually, my plane didn't even come in to it's scheduled terminal, it had to go one over. The plane ride from Chicago to Atlanta was a rocky one. We spent most of the trip under the seat-belt sign. I managed to doze for about half an hour, but the rest of the trip was spent listening to the co-captain on the loud speaker. We had to take a detour around bad weather. Once we got into the Georgia area, we found out that the Atlanta airport had shut down due to thunder storms. We spent roughly 30 minutes to an hour circling the airport until the airport opened back up and we were allowed to land. It didn't help that I had to use the restroom the entire trip.
First order of business was to find a restroom, which didn't show up nearly soon enough. I met my family a little while later. I wasn't able to get a hold of them to tell them I was gonna be late. I ended up being about four hours late. It felt good to be home anyway, and see everyone again. We went to get my bags and headed off to the car. My dad got a new truck while I was gone, an extended cab so It could fit everyone. I wasn't able to get lemon chicken since I was so late, so they got me mexican food from Frontera's. It and the cheese dip was wonderfly tasty. I gave my mom and sisters the presents I bought for them and played with the cats a bit. After taking a long-awaited shower, I sat down to read the 6th Harry Potter book. I read for a long time and had nearly finished when my sister came into the room. I was wondering why she was up so late and then I looked outside. It was six in the morning and the sun was rising. I didn't sleep at all. Not one bit. I went to sleep around 8:00 and didn't wake up again until Kim came into my room around 3:00, telling me to wake up. I was quite reluctant to get up and had a hard time doing so. I didn't want to screw up my sleep schedule anymore, so I got up and had breakfast. Or lunch. I got dressed and we went to the mall. Kim wanted new sandals, but they didn't have her size. I got some new sunglasses, since I broke the last pair a few days before I left. We finally got back home around 5:00 and we had dinner, the lemon chicken I had been craving since early in the year. I showed mom a few of the pictures I had taken on the plane and those she hadn't seen yet. I then watched "My Neighbor Totoro" with my sister. I'm still awake as we speak. I probably should sleep, despite the fact I'll probably stay awake for several more hours. Tomorrow I have to track down Rebecca's phone number. I know I have it written somewhere. Well, till next time! It's good to be back!
