Gender studies

The more I read, the more confused I get.

What is feminine? What is masculine? Are there any answers at all? Some people argue that childbirth is definitely something women do, but then again, not all women experience giving birth to a child (I'm one of them LOL). In Western culture, women try to emulate traditionally male behavior because they want power. But what kind of power do the women get? Why are women struggling so much to fit in with male norms instead of creating their own?

I hate to see women compete for attention from men, I think women should help each other and allow each other to be beautiful. On the other hand, I would never help someone I don't agree with just because she is a woman. (For instance, I would never vote for a crooked politician just because she wears a skirt to work).

Gender, identity, ethnicity, musical tastes, fashion style... it's all labels we apply to ourselves in our attempts to express individuality. However, our possibilities in this endeavor are very limited. Because again, we try to fit into norms: if I'm a fan of this band, I'm supposed to wear a specific type of clothing. I also have to agree with their political views. If it's K-pop, and I happen to like Super Junior, it almost goes without saying that I have to "hate" SNSD. (Which I don't, I love them :))

It's like I'm not allowed to think for myself, people assume things about me without bothering to ask. Such a turn-off -_-;

In the end, my mind just goes quiet. There really is nothing to say.

I read this article about Disney and the way they try to shape children into consumers and conservative soldiers for the New World Order. It's all quite evil if you stop to think about it . Definitely food for thought. I've never liked Disney, I saw through their sexist and racist values pretty quickly. Recent events have made me even more wary of their real agenda. It's not innocent and fun, rather the opposite.

Yeah, sometimes it's tiring to analyze everything, but it's also fun :D

I changed the title of this journal to Control. Shift. Escape. because it pretty much sums up my view on existence on this planet :)
