quick post in the middle of lots of work
crazy weekend. went to vt on sat and did a get that was ok but not worth the drive and effort, though i do love montpelier. we'll know for next time. that's how we learn. yesterday we did a gig on the cape where we were supposed to just do a short teaser set to promote our big show there on the 28th. we had 6 songs planned. lots of people there. typical, dead-faced new england audience. and there was free pizza scheduled after us, but they started serving DURING our short set (which the organizers were NOT happy about), and people just started wandering over to it. so we cut our set short a song, made jokes about being upstaged by pizza (and wearing outfits covered in pepperoni next time!), and got out of there. lots of people were complimentary afterwards, but during they all mostly looked like they were at a funeral. it was our first gig with robert, so we were 5, and it was fine, but kinda sloppy. just stuff to work on. mostly, they're just such fun people to hang out with. oh and i got pulled over in vt after the gig but (amazingly!) got a warning. i think it was sarah and ranjan's influence because i've never gotten a warning when i've been by myself. there's noone out there, esp at night, but they have the cops stacked up like you would not believe.
still looking for a place and playing phone tag with a guy who's either the owner or property mgr of a place i liked*. it's SO expensive, though. he says he's "impressed" with my financials, which i find downright hilarious. i'm impressed by what i'm billing, but 1.) have yet to see any of the money come in but for two small dancing deer checks, and 2.) i have no idea if it will all hold out, so taking on such an expensive apt is scary.

*the guy just called to say that his girlfriend fell down the stairs of a boat and was pretty seriously injured and going into surgery (yikes). he'll call me back soon.
