Most Likely to Succeedthe_ambush_bugSeptember 11 2008, 00:06:58 UTC
As Killer Moth and Charaxes, Ambush Bug returns!
"Wow, that Rex. He's one bad son of a bitch!"
The audience groans, and Ambush Bug tugs at his collar nervously.
"Another clunker like that, and I'll cut off the free banana supply for the writers."
He beams, suddenly.
"But we've got a super-duper category coming up next - the comic book characters voted Most Likely to Succeed! When the chips are down, who can you count on to come out ahead? Let's find out with our presenters .. Mary Marvel, and Captain Marvel, Jr.!"

"Gosh, no. I only read about it. I haven't read comics since the Comics Code Authority stopped approving them! Except Archie.."
With a look from Freddy, Mary shuts up and gets back to business.
"Time and time again, there is one man who helps the Justice Society continue to be the sterling examples of herodom that they are. One man who has little in the way of superhuman ability, but whose unbeatable skills lead the way to victory. That man is Michael Holt, AKA Mr. Terrific!"

Freddy applauds politely, then peers at the teleprompter for the next nominee.
"From the alien computer-world of Colu, Brainiac Five is the mastermind of the Legion of Super-Heroes, facing threats in the 31st century beyond any of the current era. Even against foes of unimaginable cosmic power, time and again, Brainiac Five finds the way to win."

Mary frowns.
"Taking a dive into the darker side, there's one mastermind that stands head and shoulders above them all. Possibly the smartest human being of the modern world, Lex Luthor is a man who stands tall, even amongst titans."
Re: Most Likely to Succeedjla_extrasSeptember 11 2008, 00:20:34 UTC
Freddy nods.
"And of course, we can't overlook the man who consistently defeat Lex Luthor - Superman is the modern paragon of heroism for a good reason. his kindness and perseverance second to none."

A shadowy figure appears at the podium.
"The fifth nominee, and the winner, is Batman."
A dark-gloved hand seizes the trophy. His free hand extends towards the ceiling, firing a zip-line from his hand-held grappler - which pulls him skyward suddenly, leaving behind a dissipating cloud of smoke and two unconscious presenters.

There's a pause as they wait for laughter that doesn't come.
"Gosh, I guess those internet movies aren't as funny as Tawky said they were. Nobody laughed, Freddy.."
She seems almost ready to pout, but recovers quickly.
"Of course, I'm wondering why I wasn't nominated for that last category - my alter ego in the main DC Universe has really gotten dark!"

"And our final nominee.."
She frowns thoughtfully.
"Why is it so tiny? Freddy, can you read that?"
They both lean in together to peer at some apparently tiny text, perhaps the result of a glitch?
"Captain Marvel Shazam?"
They have time to exchange a glance before twin lightning bolts strike, reverting them to their human forms.

"What the-.."
A cloud of dark smoke erupts around the pair, eliciting a gasp from the audience as the presenters collapse.
