The numbers are in for the CW's new Monday night lineup, and (drumroll please...) they were wretched!!!
The CW came in last place in the Network race with 7th Heaven struggling in it's 8pm time slot with a 2.9 household rating and a 1.6 Adults 18-49 rating. The "John Deere Green" network closed out their Everwoodless night with the CW's new 9pm show Runaway (Everwood's replacement) with a terrible (sorry Dawn!) 1.5 household rating and a 0.7 Adults 18-49 rating!!!
Considering the ratings were down dramatically from the WB's opening Monday night lineup last year (23% drop at 8pm and 37% drop at 9pm), and the CW's key demographic (18-49) was pathetic, it looks like our buddies over at the CW may have been better off sticking with a quality, fan dedicated show such as Everwood. Even MediaWeek at
http://www.mediaweek.com/mw/newsletters/proginsider/index.jsp noted, "Would the CW have been better off leaving Everwood in the time period?" I think so!
HEROES FROM EVERWOOD
On a related note, if you're lost for what to watch at 9pm on Monday nights, try the show Heroes on NBC. Nora Zehetner, who played Colin Hart's sister Laynie on Everwood, will appear in several episodes of this new critically praised show. I'm game to watch any show, especially one as enthralling as Heroes, that employs our beloved residents of Everwood. (Still taking notes CW???)
EVERWOOD REUNION ON BROTHERS & SISTERS!!!
This just in from Michael Ausiello of TV Guide
http://community.tvguide.com/forum.jspa?forumID=700000049 "New Brothers & Sisters show-runner Greg Berlanti is already making good on his pledge to lure some of his Everwood faves to his new gig. An ABC source confirms that Treat Williams will play a love interest to Sally Field's recently-widowed matriarch in late October. As of now, Williams is booked for one episode, but I'm told his stay could be extended."
Berlanti also goes on to tell Ausiello that he is considering getting Emily VanCamp to play Patricia Wettig's daughter on the same series!
