When Rupert kissed him, Wesley smiled gently against his lips, enjoying the feel of him against him. This was the beginning of the rest of their lives together. They both knew.

He wanted nothing more at the moment than to just hold Rupert for the rest of the day, possibly order in dinner, make love again. But he knew he was right when he said that they should do some research. Fred had been concentrating on nothing but for the last week, and he knew she'd continue to push herself until she figured out what was going on. They needed to help, for her sake if not Spike's.

"Knox is rather a little prat," Wesley said as Rupert got up and started to dress. He reached for his own trousers and boxers, pulling them on. "He's been hanging on Fred since we started, whether he's hoping for a promotion or he's actually interested in her, I'm not, but I think it's been wearing on her. I keep expecting to go down there and find she's used him as guinea pig for one of her experiments."

Pulling his shirt on, he buttoned up a few buttons but left it untucked and walked over to the desk, leaning over him. "It has been a while, but I'm sure we'll figure something out together." He gave him a grin and reached over to pull out one of the files. "This is everything I've been able to find out about the amulet. And if we need it..."

He pulled out the source book he had borrowed and set it on the desk. "This can be any book in the firm's archives."

With a nod, Giles took the file from Wesley's hand and opened it in front of him. When he brought the book out, Giles perked an eyebrow. "You'll have to teach me how to use it, love," he said before going back to the file. It was the basic information that Fred had already told him.

"Seems to me that this amulet is somehow connected to Angel also. If I recall, it was Angel who brought the amulet to Sunnydale and gave it to Buffy. Spike stated once, or twice, that Angel was suppose to wear it but Buffy refused to let him." He furrowed his brow and continued to flip through the file.

"Then it was sent to Angel, and according to Fred, Spike can't leave the firm. It's as if he's bind to the building, or perhaps Angel," Giles said, looking over at Wesley. "Has Angel ever said who gave him the amulet in the first place? It'll be interesting to know who gave it to him. Then perhaps we can research it more." It was a long shot, and Giles didn't know if Angel had told any of them about it. From what Fred had told him, they didn't even know Spike had a soul until Spike told them. It would seem Angel was withholding a lot of things from his friends.

"It's quite easy," Wesley told him before putting the source book aside and leaning over to look at the file, resting his hand on Rupert's shoulder and listening as the other man thought out loud. He furrowed his brow when he spoke about Angel taking the amulet to Sunnydale in the first place, remembering Angel had started to mention that when Spike had popped out in his office. He hadn't gone into details, though.

Although now that he thought about it...

"Angel never did mention where he got it, but it would have been right before Sunnydale was destroyed, correct? The day that we...that we were offered control of Wolfram and Hart, Lilah Morgan - one of the--attorneys at the firm - gave him a package. He didn't say what he was doing, but he left with it."

He paused for a moment, trying to remember the name of the person he said he was going to see. It certainly hadn't been Buffy, but the conversation with Lilah had made it sound as though he would be going elsewhere once he saw the other person.

Wesley shook his head. "The amulet came from Wolfram and Hart - it had to be what was in the package. The timing's too close not to be connected."

Giles glanced at Wesley as he spoke. His brow furrowed as he wondered if the package, and Angel taking the job at the firm was connected. "Angel was suppose to wear the amulet, which meant he would've been trapped in it, and not Spike," he said, tapping his pen n concentration. "If this Lilah person gave Angel the package after he'd taken the job offer, do you think there's a chance the amulet had something to do with Angel wanting to work for the firm?"

Standing from the chair, Giles started to pace around the room. "I remember some of my contacts telling me about the prophecy - the one about the vampire with a soul. He also said the firm was under strict orders not to hurt Angel until it was time for the final apocalypse. What if the firm meant for Angel to get trapped in the amulet so they could keep him imprisoned? Which would've left you lot open for an attack of sorts."

He pulled off his glasses and cleaned the lenses before looking over at his lover. "But with Spike being trapped, it posed a problem, so they sent him to the firm to be a thorn in Angel's side. Plus, with two vampires with souls, it's hard to tell which one the prophecy is about. And now the firm has both of them under their roof," he said before putting his glasses on as he hoped Wesley followed his train of thought.

Listening to Rupert, Wesley tried to wrap his mind around what he was saying. He was fairly sure that Lilah had indeed given the amulet to Angel now - the timing was too close, and the amulet was definitely something that seemed as though it could be from the firm. It had all the hallmarks. So given all that, it seemed quite probable whoever it figured in, the amulet was tied to Angel's taking up the firm on it's offer.

"Perhaps they told him it would help all of you, so he took the deal in order to get it," Wesley mused, rubbing a hand over the stubble on his chin.

Rupert then got up and started pacing, talking about the prophecy - one that Wesley knew. But when he theorized that the firm had meant the amulet to be a prison for Angel in order to control him, Wesley's eyes opened wide as he realized that he might very well be right, especially since it seemed that the original plan had fallen through.

"They never intended for Angel to take control of the firm," Wesley said. "But he did because Buffy changed the plan on them, and because of that, they had to do something to keep some of the control. Angel is so off balance about Spike being there..."

He looked at his lover, once again realizing how brilliant he was. "I think that you're right, love. This has to be a Wolfram and Hart operation. They had Angel either way because of the agreement, but Spike would never stay voluntarily, so by keeping him incoporeal, they keep him tied to building. We have to figure out how to severe that tie. We'll probably be able to make him corporeal if we do."

Picking up the source book, he thought for a moment, then held the book to his lips. "Magical artefacts capable of imprisonment." He then opened the book and held it out to Rupert as text appeared on the page.

Giles nodded along with everything Wesley was saying. He was most likely right, and if they did cut Spike's ties with the building, then the vampire would become solid again. But how would they do it? "The common denominator in all of this is the amulet. It's what might be keeping them together," he said as Wesley picked up one of the source books.

He raised his eyebrows as he watched Wesley whisper to the book. Biting back a comment about how one shouldn't get to close to their books, Giles looked down and saw the text appear on the page. "You're full of surprises, aren't you?" he asked, giving the text a quick once over. It listed several magical artifacts that could be used as imprisoning devices.

"There's a lot there," Giles said, taking off his glasses in order to clean them. Once they were back on his face, he looked down at the book again. He nudged Wesley's hand out of the way and turned the page. "There's several pages about amulets alone. I guess we're stuck here for a while, unless you rather finish this at your flat. It'll only take a moment, or two, for me to pack."

Wesley nodded at Rupert's comment about the amulet. "If so, we just need to figure out how to cut its magic," he said.

When he said that he was full of surprise, he smirked a bit. "Probably the one thing that's been worth going to Wolfram and Hart for. I have no idea where they got these, but it certainly explains a lot, especially when it comes to the things they've known."

He could see Rupert was right, though, and it was going to take a while to go through all the information the source book had provided. "I think going back to my flat would be a very good idea," he said with a smile. "There's far more room there, and I do believe I actually have food in the cupboard. Or we could possibly pick something up on the way back and then settle in for a good, long night of...reading together."

"I think picking something up on the way to your flat," Giles said as he started to throw his clothes, and books, into his suitcase. "If I recall, the last time you tried to cook for me, you nearly burnt the kitchen down. I think I rather like not getting my lungs full of smoke tonight."

He gave Wesley a cheeky look before finishing his packing. It was nice to be there again, with his lover, joking around about the things that'd happened in their past. Giles never thought he'd be able to do this again. Shutting his suitcase, he pulled it off the bed and looked at the other man.

"I do believe I'm ready," he said, looking around the room again. Upon seeing nothing was left behind, he stepped over to Wesley and softly kissed his mouth. "I'm glad Fred called me. We should get her a gift," he murmured against his lover's lips.

"I'll have you know that I've got better since then," Wesley told Rupert, crossing his arms while watching his lover pack his clothes and books to take with him. "I've only had to replace the cupboards twice since I moved in."

He gave him a grin, thinking how wonderful it felt to be able to so, to be this close again to the man he had loved for so long. He would always despise his father for what he had forced him to do. How he wished that he had handled things differently now, but he couldn't dwell on that anymore. What was done was done, and the more important thing was that they were together again now.

When Rupert stepped over and gave him a smile, Wesley reached up to cup his cheek for a moment. "We should - perhaps a necklace or pendant or something since she has every science book and piece of equipment that she could ever hope to have now. I think in a way, she helped us more than Spike."

After giving his lover one more kiss, he stepped away and slipped the source book into his bag, which he picked up and swung over his shoulder. He then reached out and took his hand in his, holding it tightly as they headed out of the room and down the hall to the lift.

"What would you like?" he asked him. "Chinese? Indian? Thai? Italian? Can't say I've found any good Chip shops here, unfortunately, but there's a good Chinese takeaway not that far from here."
