Here Leaning on my cane, one book in hand, I walk out of the...of my office. "Cordelia? Is she..."
"No!"
Blinking, I manage to grab the book, wincing when I feel the stitches pull a bit. I give her a confused look and wonder what brought that on. "Cordelia?"
"Oh my god! Wesley, you've asked me six times now if Willow was here yet. Or if she has called. Honestly, if I didn't know any better I would say you two are good friends. You only talked to her *once* on the phone. Sheesh." Rolling her eyes, she turns around to continue clicking on the keyboard. And I shall forever wonder who she manages that with those bloody nails.
"I did not," I say indigent. I might have asked once before. Alright twice...three...times, but certainly not six. "And I had a pleasant phone conversation with her." Looking at her over the rim of my glasses, I put down the book. "When you, Gunn and Angel had a bit of fun at the chinese restaurant. While I was here worrying that you might've been beaten to a bloody pulp by that demon."
Yes, that had hurt a bit. They had their victory dinner without me. Thought I had gone home already. Apparently Gunn had forgotten that I was driving into work with him, even though he was the one who made me. I'm perfectly capable of driving myself, which is what I did this morning. Alright, it was a bit of adjusting, but I managed. Eventually.
"We did bring you fortune cookies?" Cordelia tries, giving me one of her dazzling smiles.
"Yes," I mutter, pushing the small paper around. "'Do not look into the sky for your silver lining', doesn't really make a whole lot of sense to me," I mutter. Crumpling the thing, I throw it into the trash. "Anyway. If it weren't for Willow I would've had a nice evening of worrying yesterday."
"Sorry," Cordelia gives me a sheepish look. "But you could have called!" She stabs me in the shoulder with one of those sharp nails.
"Ow?" Rubbing my shoulder I give those nails a pointed look.
"Oh, I keep forgetting about them." Holding up her finger, she grins at her stick on nails and grabs her purse.
"Err...Wher-where are you going?"
"Yo, Barbie. You ready?"
Confused I glance over at Gunn as he strides into the lobby. "Where are you going?" I ask again.
"I have an audition!" Cordelia nearly squeals. "And Gunn's driving me over." At that she turns at Gunn and stabs the lethal nail in his shoulder. "And you better drop me off a block away buster! I'm not gonna have them see me in that monster of yours."
"Hey, you wanna ride or not?" Gunn tries to look indignant on behalf of the truck, but I can see the small twinkle in his eyes.
"But what about Willow?" I ask weakly, suddenly getting nervous. She's not going to go away and leave me here alone to greet Willow is she? I...I don't know how to entertain a young lady. She'll be bored to death if I keep going on about books and things.
"Yeah," Cordelia nods and then her high heels click on the marble floor of the lobby as she goes after Gunn. "Don't let her leave before I'm back! And just give her tea and talk books. You're gonna be fine, Wes. Have fun!" She waves a little and then the door closes behind her.
"Right...well. Tea...I-I can do tea." Nodding at that I glance down at the book for a moment and then back to the closed door again. Checking my watch I notice that it's twelve. "Perhaps I should make some...tea then?"
