Szayel vs Rukia

wataboutscience and agent_snowbunny had a fight over instant messenger. We were a little pressed for time, so it got cut short and ends a little strangely:

MewtwoWarrior: One battle of many in a great war will begin here. Here in Karakura Town, a small town with a big spiritual presence. One member from each side is present here today. One member from one of the sides may fall in combat this afternoon. From the dark, a man clad in white. From the light, a woman wearing black. Both are highly skilled and excellently trained, top marksmen in their respective groups. Whose power will come out on top?

MewtwoWarrior: The man in white had his back pressed to the side of a building, next to the corner, so he could easily peer around it. He was scanning the area, unnoticed by all the humans that were milling about. Simultaneously suppressing his reiatsu and searching for the reiatsu of the one he was sent to eliminate. So far, he sensed nothing. His yellow eyes glanced to the display on his glasses, nothing was present there either. His right hand gripped the shining white gun, where was that blasted Shinigami woman?

sono_cat: Always take the high ground. That was what had been drilled into the small woman's mind over the years. Perched three stories up, on the railing of the fire escape was a black figure, holding a similarly shining white gun. Because of her angel and the positions he was in, not to mention the wind blowing through the alley, this was not the easiest of shots. For now she had the element of surprise over the Arrancar and she wanted to keep it until she knew she could make the shot. She had her own reiatsu suppressed, which wasn't difficult since it didn't give out a strong feeling to begin with, but even with a weak signal like hers, she was sure he'd pick it up if he was careless.

MewtwoWarrior: The Arrancar gave a small hiss of irritation, this should be easier, he should be better than this! That woman could be anywhere in the city....even with her gun trained on him, waiting for the perfect moment. He had to make sure he didn't give her that moment. His eyes kept glancing around the area, every now and then resting on his virtual display, looking for any spike of reiatsu or something to help him out here. Where was she?....

sono_cat: Rukia had her gun aimed, had it all worked out in her head. It was perfect. Absolutely perfect. Unfortunately, just then the window behind her decided to open and Rukia jumped with a yelp, losing her balance, and dropping a story before grabbing the railing of the fire escape again, hanging there by one hand, other still clutching Shirayuki. She swore angrily under her breath. There went surprise.

MewtwoWarrior: Szayel's eyes widened as he heard the yelp and felt a Shinigami's reiatsu. He looked around, quickly locating the exact spot using his senses and the lock on his cyber-glasses. He raised his gun with a smirk, "Well played Shinigami, but not good enough." He fired off a single shot, the pink energy burst flying at Rukia. She could dodge it, even in the awkward position she was in, but the Arrancar was confident enough in his own abilities that his shot would not fail.

sono_cat: Rukia let go as the shot was fired, grabbing the base of the fire escape and firing back at him. Due to her less than stellar position, her aim was off, so the shot could easily be avoided if he was fast enough, but she hoped it was enough to scare him. "You got lucky, Arrancar. That's all." Once the shot was fired she dropped to the ground, taking cover behind a dumpster. She leaned around it briefly to fire off another shot. Damnit! If only that window hadn't opened! The shot had been so perfect!

MewtwoWarrior: Being the 8th of Aizen's special forces, of course he was fast enough to easily dodge the first shot, without even breaking a sweat. However, he did take note at the proximity to him, mentally chiding himself to keep focused on the battle, one good shot didn't decide the victory. He hissed again, having to work harder to avoid the second shot, cursing himself that he hadn't found such cover to hide behind. Settling for zipping around the corner, he kept his eyes focused on Rukia's location, while his glasses scanned for appropriate cover for himself.

sono_cat: Rukia didn't rank as much of anything, even if she was one of the better agents in the Kuchiki family. But she was under contract with the 13th section of the Gotei 13, and Rukia did not like the idea of going home a failure on her first big mission -- or worse, going home dead. Which was likely what would happen if she failed. Arrancar weren't known for being merciful. She peeked over the top of the dumpster, making a displeased face at the smell. Stupid dumpster...

MewtwoWarrior: Szayel saw Rukia peek over the dumpster and smirked, firing off another pink energy blast at her head. She didn't present much of a target and he figured the Shinigami woman would dodge, but it didn't hurt to try and end this a little sooner. He'd much rather be in his lab inventing and improving weaponry and useful things, like his cyberglasses.

sono_cat: Rukia quickly ducked back down as he fired and then peeked back up, firing back at him. Rukia had plenty of other things she'd rather be doing other than chasing Szayel around and hiding behind dumpsters. Like playing with bunnies! Bunnies were awesome! But no. No she was stuck here. She fired another shot before ducking back down.

MewtwoWarrior: Szayel smirked as he dodged the Shinigami's blast. His glasses hadn't found anything stationary for him to hide behind, but he had another idea.... Watching carefully, he found a human that was walking in the general direction of the dumpster and walked along beside him, mostly hidden from view of anyone on the opposite side, knowing full well the Shinigami would refuse to hurt a human. When the human guy passed the dumpter, Szayel leaned around him, still keeping pace, and fired an energy blast at Rukia, smirking.

sono_cat: Rukia frowned sternly. She knew he was coming. It wasn't like he hadn't made it totally obvious. But with the human in the way, there was nothing she could do about it. She rolled out of the way as he fired at her, then jumped on top of the dumpster, firing back at him since the human was now out of the way. "Dirty trick, Arrancar! At least fight with some decency!"

MewtwoWarrior: Szayel dodged Rukia's shot, expecting such a retaliation. He laughed, "You only call it dirty because it put you at a disadvantage!" He returned her shot with one of his own, it wasn't carefully aimed, since he was still trying to avoid any shots from her.

sono_cat: "I call it dirty because you're involving innocent people!" Rukia pulled out of the way of his shot, firing at him again. "Just give up and maybe we won't kill you!" Rukia was pretty much fed up. If he was going to use tactics like that, she was in serious trouble. She couldn't put people in danger just to being in the arrancar!

MewtwoWarrior: Szayel laughed at her words, "You're so naive!" He dodged her shot and smirked, "I'll never surrender to the likes of you, and I know not to expect mercy from a Shinigami." He fired two shots off at Rukia, aiming the second one a little more to the left, trying to estimate which way she would dodge. However, with rapidly firing his weapon, he'd have to wait just a bit longer before he could shoot more accurately again.

sono_cat: Rukia hissed as she was nicked in the shoulder and fired at him again. "We're not monsters like your lot..." She leapt from the dumpster, trying to get in at least one shot from behind him. Her shoulder felt numb and that was not a good sign. She needed to get some damage on him. She also needed to find more cover.

MewtwoWarrior: Szayel laughed in response, "Funny, you act like a monster, use the same weapons as one...." He managed to dodge the first shot, but the one from behind got him, and he hissed in anger, berating himself for messing up.
There wasn't much cover in the area, it was a mostly open street, a few small trees here and there, and the dumpster, that was about it, unless you were like Szayel and counted the humans.

sono_cat: "I do not act like a monster!" Rukia hissed and fired at him again, once more ducking behind the dumpster. "And my gun is nothing like yours." Rukia glanced to her clean white gun. Shirayuki was not the weapon of a monster. Rukia refused to believe that. Rukia did the things that she did to help keep the peace. To help keep humans safe. "There'd be no need for people like me if it wasn't for monsters like you."

MewtwoWarrior: Szayel chuckled as he dodged her attack, "Both our guns are white....both fire energy blasts....I see no difference, except in individual powers." He watched the dumpster carefully, waiting for the right moment. "My dear, people like you created me. Remember Aizen? He was once among your ranks...."

sono_cat: Rukia closed her eyes tightly as he brought up Aizen. He had been one of them. One of the group leaders. One that everybody liked. They'd trusted him and look where it had gotten them! She fired over the dumpster at him. "He is nothing like we are! And My gun is nothing like yours!" She hissed, firing several quick shots in succession. Maybe not the most accurate, but hopefully the amount of them would be enough to do some damage. "My gun protects!"

MewtwoWarrior: Szayel was able to dodge most of her shots easily, but since there were so many, he got hit by a couple, growling at each painful impact. He narrowed his eyes, it'd be risky, but the Shinigami woman wouldn't expect it... He jumped up on top of the dumpster, firing several pink energy blasts at Rukia.

sono_cat: Rukia blinked widely as he leapt onto the dumpster, taking a hit to the leg before pulling herself out of the way. She fired up at him, in hopes of throwing off his balance. If she could get him to fall, maybe she could get the advantage! though now she was losing feeling as well in her leg where she'd been hit. Not good, Rukia. Not good.

MewtwoWarrior: Szayel smirked as he saw at least one of his shots had hit true, he dodged Rukia's retaliation and prepared to fire another shot, when a voice came in over his headset. He growled, "WHAT? Are you that incompetant?" Szayel glared at Rukia "You got lucky today Shinigami. Very, very lucky." He kept his gun trained on Rukia as he backed out of her sight, heading his way back to the gate.

sono_cat: Rukia stared as he abandoned the fight. she was sort of startled he hadn't finished her off before going. She wouldn't deny that she'd been lucky. At least not to herself. She pulled herself up against the wall, limping to her return point, mumbling bitterly about how she would much rather have spent the day hugging bunnies.
