I thought Gaia's was hilarious. I went around posting in threads with things like, "OmniDrink gave me laser beams for eyes and saved a litter of kittens from Godzilla. OmniDrink can make all your hopes and dreams come true. And also make you a ninja. Why do you resist your benevolent corporate overlords?"

Well that's because you're brilliant like that. x3;;;;; I just sort of, idk. I like it when April Fools jokes are subtle. And like five or ten minutes into the prank you're like... wait a minute.

Like last year's, with the exploding halo. That was great.

Whereas I was like, oh Gaia's being sponsored by fake drink. And I got all disappointed.

xD; Sad part? About a million people fell for it. The SF was flooded with threads flipping out over Gaia 'selling out.' Those are the threads I was posting in.

There were a few threads complaining that the joke wasn't as fun because it was too obvious, but the response was that people were freaking out enough with it BLINDINGLY OBVIOUS - any less so and the idiots would have been hanging themselves or something.

xD Good god, being bought out by a corporation is like the oldest trick in the book, and the product wasn't even remotely believable. I thought Gaia'd been really lazy planning/executing it, but I guess they just know their demographic.

I remember all the waaaaangst there was WAY back when, the April Fools when DeadJournal pretended to be bought out by Livejournal.

I still remember the wangsty emo kids (DJ had adopted LJ's default layout) crying in the comments OMG WHAT AM I GOING TO DO CHANGE IT BACK THE WHITE HURTS MY EYES.

HAHAHA. I was never on DeadJournal, so I didn't know about that.

I kind of... lost some of my faith in humanity when I realized people were taking the company seriously. Not just people who weren't paying enough attention to watch the full video and go to the company's profile - most of them were people who had done those things. They were like, "Seriously, Lanzer looks like maybe he's being forced into this! And what's with the company's profile? I don't want some kind of chemical spray company taking over Gaia! They said we're going to have to just talk about their company in the forums!"

I just... wow. I could understand it if maybe they only saw the logo and nothing else - even though I knew the moment I saw the logo (I mean, OMNIDRINK? Seriously). But... I don't know. It was just amazing to me how stupid the majority of Gaia apparently is. But yeah, there was epic flipping out. The SF and GCD were flooded with it. So I just had fun with the morons xD;
