The Pearly Orange Gates
yea..no.
You know something must've been bothering me if I was compelled enough to update this..
ahh, so here it is..my opinion on "The Gates"
For those of you that dwell in a cave, or live on the other side of the world and couldn't give a shit what's going on here..
the gates are these bright orange flags that are set up throughout Central Park.
yay orange flags??
Now don't get me wrong, I'm all for artistic expression and all that jazz..
but who the fuck sat there one day and had this brilliant epiphany like "wow, wouldn't it be great if there were these flags all around central park...yea...and better yet, lets make them orange!"
If you want me to get on an artistic level with it, I will.. i'll break it down holmes..
First off...being that these gates were placed in NY...wouldn't it make sense to sort of incorporate the feeling of NY, or something representational of it that would make sense for them to be here?
NY is all about diversity...and by those gates..they're all exactly the same...and orange no less. Orange...why not something nicer? Orange is symbolic for alerts..and un symbolically, its ugly. It gets me on edge just thinking about that color. Clearly I'm more of a cool hues kinda person but whatever. Being that NY is so busy and crazy..the park is one of the few places in such a stressed environment where people can relax a little...Putting orange throughout it makes people go "OGMAOH@!!OG!I"...not cool..not cool. They should have used a more relaxing color..something less..construction work zone like perhaps? I dont' know... NY is a very artistic place...lots of poorasses trying to sell their art..why not give each of them a flag and let them paint on it? It would not only show diversity, but the mindset of a lot of individuals that make up this city..There's a good thought..
...but i'm not all deep and artistic and would definitely argue why a scribble or a red dot on a piece of paper would sell for thousands of dollars..i just don't get that...I don't think it's art at all..I don't think these flags are art at all..
