I think John Mayer deserves his own jive journal. so if you don't want to read about him or his concerts..move along.
We'll start on saturday. Saturday's concert was in Kenosha, about a 45 minute drive and the attendees were eb1, eb2, my sister and her friend amber...an excellent group to go to a concert with, although a few of the songs were a bit over analyzed by amber and her psychology-type degrees. She's convinced he recently got dumped. i have to disagree. So we got to the concert after quite the parking issue that involved many cops just standing on the side of the road and the use of many many flares. i'm not really sure what their purpose was, but they were in full effect that night. So we trampsed through the mud and made our way to our third row seats! we saw a little of Guster and their one singer is really hot. I'm also thoroughly impressed watching their drummer play everything with his hands. ouch! we were on the end of the row which was very nice because i sometimes had trouble seeing. you would think that with only two rows of people in front of me the chances of them being in my way would be less, but no. people kept coming up front to take pictures and just try to stand there until they got kicked out and sometimes they felt the need to make out a little before they returned to their seats...unnecessary. really, making out at all at concerts should really be eliminated. as should cell phones and trucker hats. those are my top three requests for concert eliminations.
then there were these three girls who had tickets in the row behind us. i don't know what happened to the people in the row ahead of us but there were about 2 open seats. so the girls behind us decided to alternate between their original seats and these open ones. but really only two of the three wanted to move. so the two would come up, take about 27 pictures, some of the screen on the side of the stage, and then yell back, "c'mon, you can come up here, its fine." so the girl would come up for a little while, decide she didnt want to be there and then move back.. Her friend would stay for aminute then go back and try to get her to come back again. obviously she wasn't comfortable moving seats. leave it alone!
The set list was great, although he teased about plying Comfortable and then didn't play it which made Erin very sad. there was also no Wheel, and no Home Life, but an excellent set list just the same. He told us My Stupid Mouth came from a trip to Super Cuts. in his encore he played a song from his next album...Hummingbird. definately something to look forward to.
Oh, and i loved when i could see John's shoes. i mean how many times at a concert can you really see the singer's shoes? i mean he wear's some sorta ugly nike's, but that's ok.
All that excitement and it was only half over! Sunday night chrissy and erica and i made our way up to Green Bay for the last show of this winter tour. it rained absolutely the entire way there. but we made it to the concert, got our t-shirts, and made our way to our seats...10th row. dead center. these were rediculously good seats. equally as rediculous were the girls in front of us. oh man, i don't even know what to say about them except that they were crazy drunk and kept standing on their seats yelling "John i want to marry you" because they actually thought he could hear them. they got yelled at by security like 19 times and two of the girls disappeared for a while when they went on a beer run and this made the third girl very worried. the whole row ahead of us was like one big party, there were about 8 of them that seemed to know eachother and they were all entirely wasted. again, two of them started making out and chrissy yelled at them. oh yeah, the three girls were at least 23 and they were with two couples that had to be in their 40s. and then the girl next to me, sometimes i would look over at her, like after one of the girls in front of us fell off her chair and i would look next to me, like, 'oh man, can you believe them!?' and the girl next to me would just get real close to my face and yell, 'oh my god, can you believe it. he's so much hotter in person. i can't believe how close we are.' would have been fine if she didn't get so close to my face when she said it...kinda freaked me out
he played for a really long time, over 2 hours, which was great. He sang Tori acoustically with no back up which was awesome!! he told the story about a friend of his in college named Victoria who stopped by to iron his/her clothes at like 2 in the morning once and i think that's where this song came from. i also think he said she was in the audience. He told us Clarity is his absolute favorite song and that he doesn't wear deodorant very often. He played a lot of crazy guitar stuff and just made a lot of songs go on a really long time, so that was lots of fun. then the guys in his band stated thrwoing stuff at eachother. i think they were throwing skittles, but John appeared not to have any idea what was going on behind him.
oh, and there was a girl behind us that kept crying. we don't know why, but i felt bad for her. she appeared to be better by the end of the concert though.
So both concerts were absolutely amazing.
**THE END**
