The Ashen Apple of These Days by
embroiderama (R)
In the years after Dean's death, everything goes to Hell for Sam and the other hunters.
- Deals with what we learned at the end of 3.09, but in a much more painful timeframe.
But For the Grace by
kroki-refur (PG-13)
Dean always thought he was prepared for Sam to leave him again, until it actually happened.
- I was being really impatient for whatever reason on the day I was reading this, so I definitely didn't read as closely as I would have liked. I'll have to reread this more in-depth, but it's really good. And the title has always just struck me.
Indelible by

Six keepsakes, six memories, six stories.
- This is so, so good. One of my new favorites. It's long and complexly woven and just amazing.
The Paradox of Living by
lyra-wing (PG-13)
A bout of unusual child abductions brings the Winchesters up to Alaska in the dead of winter.
- I have been reading a lot of her stuff lately and this was a great read. Good tension, especially, making the concern real.
Pi by
luzdeestrellas (PG)
"They have a day to celebrate pie now?"
- This is wonderful. Like slice of life (no pun intended), brotherly amazingness wonderful.
Seven Days by
sams1ra (PG-13)
Seven days. A week. And sometimes, it'll last a lifetime.
- In a couple spots, I was confused. It ended more abruptly than I was expecting. Nonetheless, this is a really intriguing story where Dean goes missing and no one seems to notice that I really enjoyed.
A Storm in the Silence by
lyra-wing (PG)
From Missouri’s POV, Dean at age 6 and Sam at age 2. John skips town and Missouri takes the reins for the night.
- An outside point of view that is really well-handled. This type of point of view is, in my experience, usually used when the boys are older, often in a wincest situation. Here, though, it's handled differently than I have seen, but just as well, if not better.
Sam/Dean
Demons Made Me Spill My Guts Like a Girl by
walkawayslowly (R)
Dean gets possessed.
- This is one of my favorites. It was approached with such patience and complexity that even thinking about writing something like this is intimidating, in a good way. This kept me hooked the whole way through and is one of the best I've read of Sam/Dean, if not the genre.
Eurydice by
wanttobeatree (R)
Sam made a different kind of a deal.
Wow. This hurts, just hurts, but the ending is worth it.
The Sunless Land by
lyra-wing (Adult)
High-school AU, in which Sam and Dean don't know each other. But, of course, not everything is what it seems.
- I generally don't read AU. I generally don't read fics where they don't know each other. However, this is the exception to both because once I started reading, I was so deeply into the story I forgot about my reservations. One of my favorites.
RPS
How (Not) to Live Alone by
jenadamson (PG-13)
Jared makes a journey.
- Gorgeous fic that leaves you with a deeply warm feeling.
