so while i really want to write about aipac- because it was such an incredible experience, i instead am going to post on another subject that will take me less time, but is on the front of my mind at the moment. from reading picus's most recent entry i remembered how much i love the childrens books i used to read. so here is my list.
-patricia polacco is still one of my favorite authors; her books have a message that just seems to resinate with me so strongly. her voice is so unique, and the stories she tells so meaningful, inspiring, and still very comforting. some of my favorites of hers are
--Thank You, Mr. Falker
--My Ol' Man
--Tikvah Means Hope
--Mrs. Katz and Tush
--The Keeping Quilt (what an amazing book)
-Love You Forever by Robert Munsch, my mom made up a tune to the books song, and she used to sing it to me when I was little, so this book is really special to me.
-i have always loved Judy Blume books, my favorite is "Starring Sally J. Freidman as Herself."
-of course what would this list be without harry potter
-Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Caroll
-Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Matilda by Roald Dahl
-The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein
-From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler by E.L. Konigsburg (who is friends with one of my friends grandparents i might ad)
-Number the Stars (the Giver as well, but I'm a bigger fan of Number the Stars) by Lois Lowry
-A Wrinkle in Time (and many of its sequels) by Madeleine L'Engle
-Yertle the Turtle and Other Stories; The Lorax; The Butter Battle Book (one I only discovered recently); and maybe my all time favorite, Oh, the Placces You'll Go by Dr. Seuss
my other favorite books (some of them almost fall in to children's book categories but oh well)
-The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
-To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
-Tuesdays With Morrie by Mitch Albom
-A Walk to Remember
-Turbulent Souls
