i feel like yesterday was the beginning of a new life for me.
i walk into camera arts to pick up some 120 film for my holga and i meet a guy, his name is brian, unexpectedly. brian's around my age and incredibly nice. he sees me with my holga and starts talking to me. he owns a photography studio on broadway and offered to sell me a color enlarger for $75. awesome. hands me his card, we continue to talk for another 20 minutes and i find out he has a show coming up, which is dedicated to the art of the holga. awesome...er.
i walk out of there red-cheeked and excited, and continue on my way to my original destination...which is also to be my new home.
i arrive at angelina's, late like always. see an old face that i wasn't expecting to see, vince! then we fill buckets with margarita mix and tequila, hail a cab and are on our way to dolores park.
dolores park is green and it's an amazing day. we find our party, layout blankets in a sea of people, and break open the buckets. 2 buckets, one (45 minute) bathroom trip, and numerous laughs later, we're pretty inebriated and ready for another round.
another taxi cab hailed, and we're on our way back to downtown san francisco. we arrive back to angelina's, where she ditches us for her beloved macbook for a few minutes, then we head out for some cheap mexican dining (in keeping with cinco de mayo, of course). my heads pounding at this point due to the sugary substance i consumed earlier and i'm in need of some extra-strength painkillers, more alcohol, or some sleep. either one will do.
unfortunately none come soon enough.
angelina and colleen get "fabulous" and we're on our way out again. an art show is our next venture, before the much-anticipated party.
the gallery is packed and it's close to 90 degrees inside, but it was worth the uncomfortable state. kim cogan is an amazing artist. check her out: kimcogan.com.
my headache has finally reached it's limit and as much as i wanted to stay, i couldn't bare it anymore. we finally say farewell and i realize i'm more in love with san francisco then i've been in love with anything in my life.
i took a few rolls on the holga and i'm excited to see what the outcome will be.
in the midst of such destruction, i'm finding myself once again. i couldn't be happier.
