Kentucky Road Trip 2007 was outstanding. The whole college thing is still new and exciting to me, which I love. I don't know. I really just can't get over the fact that two days before Saturday, I randomly decided to drive 11 hours to Kentucky to watch the Gators play. I didn't have to ask my parents, I didn't have to worry about planning things out, and to top it all of I got to take a couple cases of beer. Turn around much? I mean, here I am, not but a couple months ago, having to be in bed by 1 am, and now I can decide to do something on the slightest whim. I've heard alot of people here complain about one thing or another. To be honest with you, there is no where in the world that i would rather be than Gainesville right now.
Anyway, we left Gainesville at 10pm on Friday night. I drove through the rest of Florida, Georgia, and Kentucky until we hit Lexington. Daniel gave me a break and drove through Tennesee. We arrived in Lexington at 9 am , utterly exhausted, to find a campus of Gator Haters. I realize that they were ranked higher, and that the UK students arent really used to being in highly ranked position, but i really was surprised at how many people were just straight assholes to us. Daniel ran his mouth back, but for the most part Jak and I shut up. I don't like to talk all of that shit before the game, because anyone can beat anyone. Either way, we took the brunt of the heckling as we watched College Game Day live from Lexington. It was an incredible experience, and I got a little bit of a rush as I saw Corso put the Gator head on. The crowd went nuts, booing. I saw one guy holding up a sign that said "Corso picked the Germans to win WWII". That's hilarious. Even if Corso did pick it right this time. After Gameday ended, the three of us went back and pregamed.
The game itself was incredible. Ups, downs, drama, and lots and lots of points. I have a new respect for Kentucky, they were more impressive than i expected them to be. After the game, we stopped into an Applebees packed with UK fans. I thought the glares were going to burn holes in me, but we escaped unscathed (and I hope without eating something unpleasant that might have been snuck into our food). I couldn't drive back to Daniel's house. I was completely well before the game ended, but my body could no longer control my eyelids from shutting. Daniel hauled ass to his house, and we had an EXTREMELY welcome good night's sleep. I'd like to thank his mother for breakfast. It was amazing.
Finally, after a drive through Georgia, which I'd like to add is the worst state to drive through ever. My God, i hate Georgia with a burning passion. GA likes to make your drive as miserble as possible by making sure that you go through it as slow as possible and as close to the car in the lane next to you as you can get. Ranting aside, we found a place on the way home got Jock n' Jills. Pretty kickass sports bar, and probabaly the ONLY good thing about Georgia. We arrived home at 1030 on sunday night.
So yes, the trip was great.
Let's see,
in other news, our flag football team got rocked again. We are officially out of playoff contention. Our indoor soccer team, which i think by far is the most fun sport here, is still in the hunt after an emotional and exhilerating 5-5 tie. You had to play in it to really understand. Classes are going well. All in all, can't complain about a thing.
I'm heading to Jacksonville this weekend to watch UGA vs. UF. I really want to see Vince.
Tonight's MM Monday, so I'll probably put the pictures from the trip up around 2 or 3 when i wake up.
I just found out Pepper is coming to UF. I love my life.
