I seem to only get chance to check livejournal every two or three weeks or so and then, of course, I don't have time to read back through everything that happened since last time I logged on, even though it appears that the number of active members is a tiny fraction of what it was when I checked in almost daily.

It is still the case that thoughts occur to me throughout the day that I wish to share with anyone who will listen. The difference now is that, rather than most of them being forgotten and the remainder being posted in livejournal, most of them end up on facebook or twitter.

As I type Vaughan is sleeping peacefully in his room, Missy is out at a poetry reading with fellow poets, and Hercules Poirot is solving dramatic mysteries on the TV.

There is so much to be done, and I really must organise myself so that jobs can be picked up and worked on at a moment's notice, when Vaughan falls asleep or while Missy is looking after him or taking him somewhere. This Friday Missy takes Vaughan on his first flight down to San Diego to stay with his Grandma Candy until Wednesday, which should give me time to get some organising done.

I won't have all weekend to potter about at home though. A friend of mine was fortunate enough to win a couple of tickets to see Mastodon, High on Fire, Valient Thorr, Baroness, Bison b.c., and some other bands at the Fox Theater in Oakland on Saturday, and she was generous and thoughtful enough to offer me one of them. We're going to split the cost of a third ticket and take another friend along too. That should help to take my mind off missing my son for an evening, but I will still miss him terribly. The uninterrupted sleep at night and the time to do stuff for myself will be very nice, but I have never missed anyone so much as I miss Vaughan during the day while I'm at work, so five days without him will be interesting. Actually, so long as I'm occupied I don't think about it much, it's when I get home and see him again I realise how much I've missed him, so when I greet my wife and son at the airport on Wednesday I expect to shed a tear or two.
