I got the Banksy book. It's amazing. He communicates everything that's good about graffiti in an extremely elegant way. It made me want to do something, but I had no idea what.
Then it hit me. What does Opal obsess about the most (and doesn't understand any of)? Math.I have this vision of freeways and inner city buildings smeared with Maxwell's demon and calculus and, of course (because it's me) Mandelbrot's set.Whole walls of lines of beautiful, eloquent calculations with diagrams, streets full of variations and sets and strings. A wall of fractals.
Could the police really scrape it off and call it vandalism? Could anyone, in their right mind, call it damaging to the public? Well, probably, but they'd be wrong.
Alas, I don't have the skill, patience, or guts to do any sort of public art.
