Learn It, Know It, Live It

I just love this definition that I read recently in a book.  So much that I posted it to my Facebook page, which I virtually never post to anymore.  But even more than the definition, I just love the word:  Dandyism

"Dandyism is above all, the burning desire to create a personal form of originality, within the external limits of social conventions.  It is the pleasure of causing surprise in others, and the proud satisfaction of never showing any oneself."

This, my lovelies, is my new mission statement!

And on a less glamourous note, I'm thoroughly enjoying this book "The Sisters:  The Saga of the Mitford Family."  My sister turned me on to the book, after I turned her on to a biography about Zelda Fitzgerald that Nancy Mitford wrote.  It took me a bit to get my bearings with the family but once the book reached the point of WWII, I was totally hooked.  The end, so far, is bittersweet.  I can relate to so much to it, in that my own family which was large and closely knit just as the Mitfords were, has totally fallen apart through the years due to tragic circumstances and pig-headed personalities, which is exactly what happened to the Mitfords through the years.  Definitely a great read, as far as I'm concerned!
