The trick is in getting a miniature power source and memory device all in the same space as a recording device. It’s really not as hard as it looks. Ten years ago it would be a fucking bitch to try and put this all together. Lisbeth would have had to make some calls and owed favors to some people with serious moral flexibility and questionably hygiene, but these days all she has to do is go to the store.
It’s December and she’s not bundled up, cursing the cold like she usually does back home. Instead Lisbeth finds herself in shorts and a bathing suit top working out on her porch because it’s so fucking hot. Maybe apart of her should be upset that she is not home for Christmas but she would argue that what is back in Sweden is not home. Last year at Christmas she was visiting her mother with gifts, visiting with Holger and playing chess until he gave up. However all those people are dead now so what’s the point of going home? Months ago she might have felt an ache at the memory, at the loss but that ache has faded.
Instead she is busying herself with working on a little Christmas present for Taiki. Maybe it's not really a present but she sees it as such, he needs something and she is more then happy to put it together and get it working for him. The video camera fits inside a rather plain looking necklace, she was thinking about earpiece but those tend to fall out and be bumpy. Necklace, there is no falling, no real bumping. So the little necklace fits a camera and a USB plug so can plug it into his laptop, download it and charge it.
Along with the camera comes the program that takes the video from the camera and stores it on his laptop. Of course along with that little harmless program comes with Lisbeth's own little program the kind she loads on almost everyone's computer she meets. His world is now her world, at least the digital version. Hard drive, email, she has a sneak peek into his world. Her motives are not evil but curiosity mostly.
The instructions she types up for him are simple. While wearing the necklace the video will transmit to his laptop, recording the data he films. Leaving the apartment (or where ever he lives) means the necklace records and stores it internally. When it's plugged into his laptop it charges and, as previously mentioned. Packaging it all up she includes the CD and instructions in the box and ships it to his address, return address: Grenada.
