We invite you to tell us today about your self-esteem as a writer.
link A few words. I have none. I write what I write and sometimes I go back and read it and facepalm because it sounds so fucking stupid or something is misspelled and I'm sure whoever is writing against me thinks I'm mildly mentally impaired. That's why I try and cut people slack when they play or write against me or something is misspelled or makes me think 'wtf?' Because I suck and the more I write the less I suck and that applies to everyone. I don't suppose you'll ever find someone who just writes and writes and gets worse. I think reading helps with that, the more you read the more inspiration you gather to build up your own abilities.
At least that's what I tell myself. Generally though, by and large, all things considered, I have no self esteem as a writer. I am lucky that I have someone who I write against who is an amazing writer on a regular basis, and I am lucky that I get to play with people who can write well and don't some how destroy me through the internet. Or just flat out ignore me, because that's a valid option as well. I've always thought that writing is one of those things where you never have to back up your claim. Not like an artist or a musician. No one ever hands you a pen and a piece of paper and expects something from you. If they do you best know how to bullshit, and really that's all writing is anyway.
I write because my life is boring, because I can't paint or sing or have any sort of athletic talent. Because if I didn't I'd probably put my head through a window and then the rest of myself. I do what I can and if someone doesn't like what I write then that's fine with me. Because you may write to an audience but you for them, at least I don't.
