Live From Sunset Park!
Im sitting here at my best friends kitchen table, in her most sublime brooklyn apartment, clacking away on here while she and my husband sleep in their cocoons.
Yesterday was a literal day from hell. I once again, in my brilliance, rammed my car in the back of somebodys truck. the truck is fine. my car however, is not.
Im okay. The baby is fine. Im just incredibly sore and tired from drugs. Drugs apparently are okay to take, they wont hurt my lil jones.
In speaking of jones, it looks like everything that we had planned for us to go to alaska is now looking a little bleak. But I promised him that we would go no matter what-and I mean to hold that promise for him. As I have already stated previously in posts gone by, I would move heaven and earth if that meant making Ben smile.
Boston airport sucks. Just to give everyone a heads-up, Boston airport is more expensive, more confusing and just plain idiotic compared to the other airorts that i have been through. Columbus is a dream compared.
My dear friends, for those of you who have not had the oppurtunity to see the Big Apple, I suggest that you put everything aside and work your collective butts off until you have the funds to get up here and see it. It is surreal and unreal that I am in Brooklyn New York, and I can already tell that I can call this place a second home.
Olgas apartment is this incredible combination of gypsy, ukranian, french, art nouveau and lights that are just beautiful and I feel at home here. Ofcourse that is completly Olgas doing because she makes anywhere feel warm and welcome. This woman that I have had the previlage of growing up with and sharing some ideals and thoughts with is nothing short of amazing. She lives in a beautiful world, in a beautiful city and everything that she touches or is around is almost enhanced in wonder and color.
She took us last night to a little mom and pop restaurant down the street and Ben and I had the most delicious bagels. Its true what they say, you are not in New York City until youve had coffee, bagel, hot dog and Times Square. I intend to do all of those things, except the hot dog.
In the park a few blocks down, there is a spot where the whole of manhatten opens up and you can see the glittering lights at night. The spot lights where the twin towers fell, the white lights going across the brooklyn bridge. Ive never seen anything so immense and so incredible. Although, according to Olga, that is nothing compared to the pink lights of Paris.
One major city at a time Olgs.
I cannot believe I am in one of the biggest cities in the world. That makes me happy. And the fact that I have Ben and Olga with me, just makes it all that much better. My two favorite people and I are going out today and conquering Brooklyn.
Later on, Manhatten.
Watch out cab drivers.
