Liars are lying to themselves
So I'm going to break from tradition here and actually say something on this journal: What in the name of almighty Cthulu himself is going on? I just read an article about an instance in which Dick "I Shoot Lawyers" Cheney was greeted with cheers and a standing ovation in his home state of Wyoming. Well first off, we should never have made a man from Wyoming president. Not that Wyoming folk are any less talented or smart than any other American...but there's not even a million of them. As Garfield the cat once conjectured, for all we know, Wyoming is a gigantic square lake in the middle of the country. Anyway, I digress. Dick Cheney was greeted with much hurrah in his home state. So what, right? HE SHOT A MAN! HE. SHOT. A. MAN. Accident or not, he does not deserve a standing ovation. And what's worse, Harry Whittington, the man who was shot, actually apologized to Cheney. He apologized! I'm sorry, but if I was shot by anyone I knew, I would not be the one apologizing. Especially if I was 78 years old. Furthermore, Cheney has yet to explain why the public was not notified about the shooting until 20 hours after it had happened. Something's rotten here. And regardless if Cheney is vice-president or not, he did shoot somebody. Shouldn't some sort of charge be pressed...in the very least reckless endangerment.
More importantly, Congress is currently mulling over whether or not to continue with its investigation into Bush's spy program. This shouldn't even be a question. There were literally thousands of oversight investigations during Clinton's administration. Do you know how many there have been during Bush's? 4 or 5. Look it up. There is no oversight for this administration, and it appears as if when this asshole has finally been caught with his pants down, when members on both sides of Congress are objecting to his actions, the oversight committees are just going to drop the issue. What the fuck?
