Sort of busy few weeks, seen some friends I haven't met up with for ages - Lisa who I haven't seen for ages inexplicably, as we work about a mile from each other and Nathan who I haven't met up with for ages either as he hasn't been in the country much (far more explicable). More on him and what he's up to another time.
I've seen my friends Simon and Rob's band, Tinyfish. They are doing well at the moment, their first album was voted 15th best album of the year by Classic Rock magazine and they have now signed to a small label - previously they were handling themselves in the dark (as the Billy Connolly joke goes). Now working on their second album.
I really enjoyed the support band, Touchstone who seemed to be having a lot of fun. Tinyfish were good, I liked their music live more than on the CD. Their drummer was great, the sort of guy that I'm sure if asked who his influences were would say "Keith Moon and Animal from the Muppetts'.
In dead people news, Jeremy Beadle is no longer with us, more on that another time and place when I get the blog "The Two Minutes Hate" up and running (just checked and I can't believe that that email address was free (grabs)).
Bryony has been away for a week and asked "What's that smell?" on her return to the house. It sounds like she had a good time away in Lanzarote, swimming with the fishes.
I've seen lots of films but no TV (other than on DVD and drunk far too much beer and wine. For a while there I think I was drinking according to the rule of St Benedict for the medievalists out there.
One of the films I watched was Deathproof which I quite liked although think it's probably better as part of the originally planned double bill. I won't bother with Planet Terror until the inevitable 'original directors cut' format comes out.
I also managed to do lots of cycling and think I may have made up for my slow start to the year - plan is to ride minimum of 600 miles per month, failed to do that in January but am on track to do that for Feb and catch up the miles I dropped in Jan too. I'll catch up anyway in March & April when I bag an 'extra 1000 miles for riding John O' Groats to Land's End
I've got a hilly 50k ride in the Surrey Hills tomorrow (not including the distance to and from home to the start at Box Hill). I did part of it as a recce last weekend and it's very hilly indeed, sort of steep climbs that make you glad you have a granny ring (as cyclists term the smallest chainring on a triple chainset).
Maybe not a good idea to have all the beer and curry I'm planning for this evening.
