after learning that the travelodge downtown san francisco is apparently a infested hellhole, i have found a different place to stay. it is also dirt cheap, but tripadvisor.com has 29 anecdotes on this place and on average it rates 4.5/5, overwhelmingly mentioned as clean, things in good condition, central location, so i feel... hopeful. we'll see though. i really can't afford anything expensive, and in a city like SF things seem pricy. i am starting to get excited about the trip though, the conference remains scary but i want to go see alcatraz, and the bridge, and ride the cable cars and all that touristy stuff. it doesn't even bother me much now that i'm going alone -- i think its going be good anyway. one of my collaborators is coming as well, and i'm really happy about that.
