Eurovision Final 2024: N's thoughts
Final (12.05.24.)
NOTES:
1. I watched this on the 12th due to time zone differences. I love the Eurovision dearly, but I'm not getting up at silly o'clock for it, especially while jetlagged LOL.
2. I already gave my opinion on our (the UK's) entry in my post on Semi-Final 1, so I'll skip that one tonight.
3. As with Semi-Final 2, I have cranked up my cave goblinness to 12 and actively shut out anything that might be spoilery, which means nearly the entirety of the internet 😂 (I also don't watch TV other than the Eurovision LMAO, so.) I do not know what's about to happen or if anything happened between Semi-Final 2 and the Final, and I like it that way! It's all surprises from here on out!
So then! Commence the SONG JUDGEMENT
... Wait WTF where's The Netherlands?
THE LIVE CHAT ON YOUTUBE SAYS THEY WERE DISQUALIFIED?! Are you FUCKING SHITTING ME. That was one of the better entries of the year WTF WTF. I'll have to look up what happened later.
1: Marcus & Martinus - Unforgettable (Sweden)
Ooooh that is one nice beginning. And y'know, I usually despise 'non-choruses' where few or no words are sung over a danced-up bit, but this is one of the few exceptions. The music is so bangin' it doesn't matter
3: Isaak - Always on the Run (Germany)
Blimey o'reilley, look at all that fire. Germany will probably see in increase in votes this year LOL. Song's kinda meh though. Another letdown chorus.
8: Nebulossa - Zorra (Spain)
👀 Okay! Was not expecting such an electronic beginning, but I like it! I also love that Spain so often chooses to send songs in Spanish 👌 Scantily-clad men?! 👀 ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) The sad thing about this song, though... is that it too has a letdown chorus!
15: Angelina Mango - La noia (Italy)
👀 Ohhh? Great start! And then it gets me dancin' so soon! And I actually... like the chorus? Similarly to what I said about the Swedish entry, if the music is strong enough, it doesn't matter so much to me if little to nothing is going on with the vocals. Yeah I think I like this one!!
25: Slimane - Mon amour (France)
As usual, I like that France usually sends songs in French. Not sure the song itself is doing much for me, though, despite the powerful performance.

SWITZERLAND WON YESSSSSSSS!!!! Aw FUCK YEAH. 🕺🕺🕺🕺 A fun, exciting, gorgeous, pleasing song. I am grinning from ear to ear

Going right back to where I began my JUDGEMENT of the songs, I looked up what happened with The Netherlands. Apparently, if I'm understanding this correctly from my Googling, Joost Klein, the Dutch entrant, had specifically asked not to be filmed running back to the Green Room after the end of his performance, yet this was not respected, and, angry about this, he made a "threatening motion" towards the camerawoman, although he didn't hit her or anything.
So... guy got harassed and then was punished for angrily warning the harasser to back off? 😬 That's what I'm getting from what I've read, anyway. Might not be all there is to the story, but. If all that is true... fucking yikes, and not towards the singer.
Anyway. Always nice when one of the songs you've picked as a personal fave wins! I bought and ripped the CD set for this year's Eurovision some weeks prior to hopping across the planet, so from here on out, I can enjoy the shit out of my faves from this year whenever I get the chance 🕺
And that's it for another year! The Contest is off to Switzerland next year! Buh-bye for now!
