Okay so they find a cure for cancer in 2009. The next year, much of the world is infect with a crazy virus that came from the cancer. The virus spreads all over, through contact/air. So people with the symptoms have rabies like traits except more aggressive and freaky. They can't stand sunlight.
So yeah, Will Smith is supposedly the last man on earth. He was immune to the virus. He's trying to come up with a cure (he's a doctor). Tests all seem to fail. And well, at night he has to stay home and seal all his window..........screw that.
