2012, Into Your Films We Will Delve

Feb 06, 2013 20:54

It's that time for me to give little mini-reviews and recommendations for all the 2012 Bollywood films!

This year it's going to be a little different, I'm doing it award-style, so each film wins its own title! :P

(For anyone who cares, you can read my 2011, 2010 and 2009 roundups as well.)

Agent Vinod - I really wonder whether Saif pushed his ideas as a producer on the whole "sequel/serial" concept onto Sriram Raghavan, who wanted to make a different sort of movie but ended up giving it a more sleek look because Saif wanted that. It definitely felt like a movie that had had some vision, but then put through the grinder to become bigger or with more commercial appeal. I really don't know. I wonder if one day somebody will tell the full truth about what happened. I may be biased in Raghavan's favour because I just really liked his two previous films, so I cannot see why the third one ended up so bland, hence I'm inclined to blame Saif who wanted it a star vehicle for himself - star vehicles aren't really Raghavan's wheelhouse ( ... )

Agent Vinod felt like it was being pulled in too many directions, which was very unfortunate. I'm not saying that it would have been a masterpiece regardless, but there's definitely a sense of "what could have been".

Yeah, I keep hearing that Shahid is difficult to get along with. Not sure if this is true or if rivals are trying to bring him down. Either way I think he'll do well in the Prabhudeva film. Shahid could kill Prabhu's choreo and hopefully look Kaminey-esque fighting and being badass Southie masala style. :)

It's not like "kids these days" can't identify with the emotions that were displayed in KKHH, even if the circumstances need to be dressed up a bit and modernized. But not to the bizarre extent that SOTY went. It fell flat imho. Yes I know the movie has a lot of fans, but it could have had even more if it had been done right.

Hee hee, shorties. XD

i watched only six bolly films in 2012... and 38 in 2011. it's probably cause i have no one to share my obsession with. except for my bf of course but he's more into action pulp with salman khan and not funny comedies like 'housefull 2'.

well, i've seen 'kahaani' and liked it, a lot. i want to see 'talaash' and 'barfi'. and latest srk's movie, of course. even though i hate the fact it co stars anushka sharma >.>

Whoa that's quite a change! I feel like I watched even more movies this year lmao. Lately my fam has been watching a movie a day on average!!

...You are literally the first person I have heard complain that Jab Tak Hai Jaan stars Anushka in it and not complain about Katrina. XD
