*Joan smiles to her politely and glances to the books*

Well, I have so much to catch up on, it seems.

*She pauses for a moment, tossing a bit of bread to a tuck, then tears her large piece in half handing it to Martha*

I never did ask, Martha, did you pass your exams? Or have you taken them since I last saw you. The first time we met, I mean.

yeh i did. I am a proper doctor now!

Is that what you are studying for Joan? You know you could become a doctor if you want to. In my time, anyone can be whatever they want...

No, I do enjoy being a nurse. I just hope I will be able to here soon. I'm doing my best to adjust to all these changes, you know.

I've seen a few of the ...fashions around. I'm not sure about experimenting with those just yet. I've only just arrived. I'm still trying to grasp the idea of even being here. But thank you, all the same.

Come on, loosen up a little. That dress is beautiful, but its so.... limiting.

You Joan, need a new look. Something that is going to make you feel more comfortable and open around here.
