Appearance: Mary is average height with a slim build, her muscles only slightly toned at this point due to her civilian lifestyle. While her clothing of choice is long dresses; though, she’s been known to wear pants and shirts, especially when doing something that requires free movement or ‘hunting’.

Personality: Overall, Mary is a very caring individual that enjoys being around people, especially if they’re family or friends.

Raised as a hunter, she’ll do what it takes to keep people safe, even attempting to take on a demon unarmed, as shown in the pilot episode where the yellow eyed demon was standing over Sam’s crib. Knowing the danger her son was in, she charged in, knowing it was all in vain. She simply couldn’t have felt right about anything if she let an innocent get hurt without doing anything to try to stop it, especially if she knows and loves the individual.

There’s not many things that can make her angry, save for insulting or hurting someone dear to her. Heavens help you if you physically hurt her loved ones though, when that happens, not even God himself would be able to save you from her wrath. It’s been shown she can have a fiery temper under certain circumstances, namely when she feels cornered or threatened. Particularly if someone she cares for is being stalked by something that may be able to hurt them; given that situation, she'll attack first and ask questions later.

The things that mean the most to her are what everyone would expect. Being a family woman and mother, she cares more for her children and family than anything else, their safety always on the forefront on her mind. She’s also great with children, something that she seems to have passed along to Dean.

Considering that she knows what's out in the dark though, she has a great ability to hold herself back from worrying over certain things that most hunters would never allow. Such as not salting windows in her home and not taking any precautions against demons and monsters save for a normal alarm system.

The worst thing she can possibly imagine is for someone to be forced into the hunting lifestyle like she was. She never wanted this life for her children, wanting them to be safe and able to live normal lives (and long lives) and have the mundane worries of the average person, not having to worry if tonight would be the night that something got the better of them.

Powers/Abilities: After training for a bit, Mary may get her greater physical condition back, something that all hunters seem to share given their lifestyle. She also has a very extensive knowledge of the supernatural and mythology, something that her many hunting journals can attest to.

Mary, like all hunters, is a skilled fighter. She's profecient in hand to hand combat, as well as firearms, shotguns, and whatever melee object that she can find. From what the series shows, the female hunters seem to favor knives and machetes for bladed weapons, supposedly due to their light weight and portability.

She's also sklled in tracking. Tracking can be used for everything from survival, to hunting, to just finding a safe place to sleep for the night.

This isn't even touching on her illegal skills...Including lock picking, breaking into buildings (though this was before the more advanced electronic locks, something that will confuse her.), stealing cars, impersonating government officals, and other things that could get someone thrown under the jail.

As for magical abilities; So far in the series, there have been no hunters that couldn't read and recite Latin. It could only be assumed that Mary can do so as well; she can use this to summon, exorcise, or vanquish demons and other monsters. That's about as far as her magical abilities go though.

History: Mary Winchester is the wife of John Winchester and mother of Sam and Dean Winchester.

In “Pilot” Ep. 1.1 it is shown that on November 2nd 1983, when Sam is six months old, Mary woke up not long after putting him to bed, noticing that her husband hadn't come to bed yet. Walking into the nursery, she saw a figure leaning over the baby bed. Thinking it was her husband, John, she asked if he needed any help with the baby; taking the figures silence as a refusal, she walked away to go back to bed. As she was walking to their bedroom, she noticed a light flickering. Tapping it, the light soon stopped flickering, but she noticed something else…the television in the living room was still on. Walking downstairs to turn it off, she saw John asleep in his chair; panicking she ran back to the nursery, concern for Sam taking over her body.

Bursting into the room the figure turned to her, the only features truly visible were his bright yellow eyes. As soon as she started screaming, John ran up to a seemingly empty nursery. As he checked on Sam, he noticed blood dripping from the ceiling, looking up, he saw Mary pinned to the ceiling with her stomach slashed open. Falling back as he stared up in horror, Mary burst into flames, the nursery burning as the yellow eyed demon burned her body.

In the episode “In the Beginning” Ep. 4.3 it is shown that Mary was a former hunter, with her parents Samuel and Deanna Campbell. Sent back in time by Castiel, Dean observes his parents when they were younger. After following his father for a bit, John ends up at a diner; Dean watching from the window like a creeper. Having known something was off for some time, Mary comes outside and basically kicks Deans ass, not knowing he was her son from the future. It’s at this time that Dean sees the bracelet she’s wearing, a hunters bracelet.

With the knowledge that they’re both hunters, Mary takes Dean to her home to meet her parents. While Samuel is cold to Dean, untrusting of him, Deanna is far friendlier and invites him to stay for dinner. While Samuel plans to investigate a death, he decides to take Mary instead of Dean, wanting to take his daughter instead of some nameless hunter.

While on the investigation, it doesn’t take much to learn that the farmers son made a deal with a stranger, wanting his father to stop beating him. The guy told him he'd come back to collect something in around 10 years, so, of course; the kid sold his soul to the yellow eyed demon.

Even though Samuel and Mary have never heard of the yellow eyed demon, Dean knew who he was talking about. Planning on killing the demon before he could do any harm, Dean makes a plan to kill him with the Colt. Before leaving, Dean tells Mary not to get out of bed that fateful morning, no matter what she sees or hears. She agrees for the moment, but of course, she won’t remember nor will she care when she senses her son in danger. It's at this time that she tells Dean that she doesn't want this life for her children, that it's the worst thing she can imagine happening to them.

While Dean’s stealing the Colt from someone else, Mary hears from her father that the demon is at her friend’s house. Ignoring her own safety, she rushes over, jumping right in the middle of the situation. Stabbing the demon, she is soon overpowered, but not before kicking his ass for a bit.

Intrigued by the blond, Azazel (yellow eyes) seems to take a shine to the woman. As Dean arrives on the scene, Azazel takes off, outnumbered for the moment and knowing what the Colt can do.

As Samuel tries to grab the Colt from Dean, it soon becomes apparent that Azazel possessed him. After a short conversation about his future plans, Azazel stabs himself in the gut, ensuring that once he’s gone, his meat suit will die. Snapping Deanna’s neck to get her out of the way for good, he turns his attention to finding Mary and John.

Finding them in the Impala, he reaches in drags Mary out, John following and trying to reason with him. Still tricking the pair into thinking he's Samuel, he reaches out and snaps Johns neck, killing him instantly. Proposing a deal to Mary, he agrees to bring John back to life, saving her dearly beloved, all she has to do is agree to let him visit in ten years. Agreeing to the deal, she kisses the demon, sealing the agreement.

Disappearing as Dean shows up once again, Mary’s parents are dead, but John is alive once more. With the demon gone, Castiel drags Dean back to the present.
