Orion was ten when he decided that he didn't need to know anything about pregnancy ever. Washing dishes- he'd just graduated to not having to stand on a stool to reach the sink, he was proud- after a meal with his aunt and uncle and cousins (the Huns, they called them) from across the road, his aunt mentioned that her mucus plug was loosening.
Mucus was snot. Snot was interesting.
"What's a mucus plug?"
Apparently, ten-year-old boys weren't supposed to ask questions like that. His heavily pregnant aunt laughed and told him not to worry about it. His mother told his aunt not to talk about it.
The next day, he had a new cousin. He just knew the events were related. Gross.
