Apr 29, 2006 10:30

This fic was inspired by this incident and its aftermath. Obviously AU there is a lot of violence behind the cut so this is your warning.

Let's play a little King of the Island )

She cuddled into the cover a little when he moved and smiled a little when she heard his voice. She turned onto her back, the bruise a deep purple on her cheek and she smiled 'Morning.'

Swan frowned at the bruise and sighed touching it sleepily. You can't go back like this.

Her fingers found his, 'I will have worse before the end, and it will clear up.' She brought his fingers to her lips, kissing them softly, 'How do you feel?'

If you go home like this I will have worse too before the end. Swan smiled a little knowing Plissken would be amused by the treatment he had given her attackers. At the question Swan's brow furrowed. He didn't hurt. That was odd. His hand found the bandage on his shoulder and pushed it off. There was no wound. His brow crumpled into disbelief and he looked at Aggie with a "How the hell?" expression.

'Swan, it wasn't your fault and I will tell him that, please....dont' worry.' At his question her smile grew, even through the pain of the bruise on her cheek, 'the same way I did in Vegas.' Her fingers played with the chair around his neck, 'An Angel's feather.'

Swan looked down at the feather and started to think. His expression clearly showed that things were coming together in his mind. his fingers played with the necklace and he stared at it for a long time.

So this is how Plissken gets up after being shot.

He looked up at Aggie.

He wears one of these doesn't he?

Aggie shook her head, 'No he doesn't.' She looked up at him and ran her fingers down his cheek, 'Have you ever been around When Snake has died, have you ever seen him die?'

Her answer confused him but he nodded. I have never stuck around. Anyone on the street knows if there is something around that can wrack him you don't want to stick around. I have seen him get shoot a couple of times but he always seems to get up and walk away.

She raised an eyebrow, 'What about stories, have you heard any stories about what has happened when Snake died?'

Everybody knows the stories. People slitting his throat and shooting him with automatic weapons. They say he growls when he gets up and breaks people's necks. I've even heard people say he sets the person who shot him on fire.

Swan shrugs. I think some of it is bullshit.

'Thats Apollyon, he is my true brother.' She gazes up into Swan's eyes from where she is still laying under the covers, 'Inside Snake dwells Apollyon, a fallen Angel who is destined to bring about the end of the world. When Snake is killed it is not him that gets up straight away, but Apollyon coming forth. Yes, Snake does get up, but only After Apollyon leaves.'

Swan looked at her like she was speaking another language. What was he to make of this? He stayed quiet for a long time trying to understand. Maybe the whole family was crazy. That would explain this mess but he had seen Plissken recieve injuries he should not have gotten up from. Swan just shook his head with uncertainty. What else could he do? Try and believe this, tell her she was crazy, this was not something he was prepared to deal with. He needed time to sort through all of the wierd things she claimed.

Glancing up at him she frowned 'Swan, are you alright?' She reached down, taking hold of his hand, 'I know it is a lot to take in, but it is the truth.

Swan nodded and laid back in the sand looking up at the sky for a long time. Slowly he looked back at Aggie still confused.

I thought people who didn't believe couldn't see angels.

She shook her head as he looked over at her, 'That is not true, you can't see them if they don't want you to. It is the same with most ghosts.'

Turning on her side she looked down at him, 'I wish I could have shown you what I looked like with wings.'

Swan got that thoughtful expression again before speaking. Is that how he always gets away? That would be a nice trick to just disappear when you are being chased.

Swan glanced over at her. Why can't you now?
