It's just the fear of wasted time

Niece free for the evening, not that I'm doing anything productive with the time.

Baby is with his dad for until Sunday.  We did manage to get J and Baby Daddy (BD) to agree to a parenting schedule.  What BD wanted was alternate weeks of parenting time per parent, and a week is a long, long time for an 8 month old.  Makes transfer more traumatic.  I suggested a 3 day/4 day schedule,  each parent alternates  Baby for first three days, then four days.   A not-inconsiderable perk of this schedule is that  each of them get a weekend "off" every other week.

If there are any 20-year-olds reading this:  Please take note that Niece says, frequently, "I wish I'd waited to have a baby."

I discovered that Curiosity Will Kill this Cat if I Don't First  (and in this case, Curiosity was not framed**) loves low sodium V8 juice, and will lick the glass clean if you're not paying attention.  (Scratches head.  Well, I suppose that's not as odd as the cat who ate an entire birthday cake.  My poor little sister, whose birthday it was,  was pretty upset.)

I've had to delay my trip to NYC, because of  J's residence here until October,  and the fact that my NYC sister got very, very busy.  The Tutankhamen show continues until the end of the year, so it's not like I'll miss it.   I wanted to go during the summer partially because I figure given the oddness of the weather this year, we'll be having blizzards in October.

Off to mine the pantry for something resembling dinner.

*When parents who are separated, unmarried, divorced etc. say that they'll do parenting, or "visitation", by agreement, it almost always ends in disaster.  One parent wants time with the baby or without the baby, and parent two has a conflict or  finds it inconvenient, and the war is ON!  So what our jurisdiction tends to favor in those circumstances is what I call a fall-back plan: 'Parenting time shall be as [the parents] agree.  If [the parents] are unable to agree: [the schedule]'.  More cooperation and less likely to end up in court that way.
