I didn't ship anything last season of Glee. Season 2 started and I immediately thought Sam was the guy who was supposedly going to be Kurt's boyfirend. He fit the mental picture I had of the supposed boyfriend (both in looks and personality), so I approved. Then, Duets aired
I love how confident Kurt was when he was talking to Sam Which isn't something, I've seen in his other interactions with boys he was attracted to before or since. I love how Sam was willing to stand by Kurt, even though he's so obcessed with popularity, and that he's never felt the need to tear Kurt down or tell him to 'tone it down'. I also like that it isn't an idealized crush. They actually tease each other (''I need to sing with someone who matches my passion and talent level.' 'Who's that?' "You know they make special shampoo for colour treated hair.", the side eye Kurt gives Sam after the chocolate turtle line in 'Never Been Kissed'). They also had two very comfortable and natural feeling conversations within a short time of meeting each other.
