The "kindness of strangers"

Dec 24, 2012 14:42

Yesterday, a little old lady gave me like a bushel of grapefruit right off of her tree. She had gotten a store clerk to send people to her house to pick fruit, and I was one of the lucky ones.

It took me two hours to squeeze the juice, which I put in the freezer so I wouldn't guzzle it all down in three days.

Today, as part payback and part protest of the contemporary "Christmas" overindulgence, I donated several nice things I had to a charitable thrift store.

Now I am done with it. Except for the eating. I don't need an excuse to eat special food. I do it all the time because the way I see it, any meal I eat could be the last.
