I finally will get the competition over with for the teaching case on the Ronald McDonald House. I'm a little disappointed because all the other participants dropped out except for the University of Chicago. So it's two Wake Forest guys against to U. Chicago ladies. Either way, I'm going to spin it in my favor in future resumes and interviews. Either
"I beat a U. of Chicago" or "I finished second behind a U. of Chicago."
It's being done via live web-streaming. While the actual participants will be lower than expected, the judge turn-out should be pretty neat. There are going to be judges from the US, Japan, Kenya, Croatia, Ukraine, and a management school with reps in South Africa, Phillipines, Costa Rica & Russia.
I did look at the powerpoint slides for my competition and they look pretty darn good. She has "mad powerpoint skillz." Oh well. I'm not much of a powerpoint guy.
In other news...
I scheduled my Baptism for joining my church. I'm pretty excited about it. I had resisted joining a church and didn't see the need to be re-baptized. i've resisted it for a few years now. But I've been finding in my Bible support for being baptized. I'm still a Christian either way, but I am finally at peace with joining a church and being baptized.
I called the Center for Religious Freedom today but didn't hear anything back.
I got called in my Contracts case and was questioned for close to 50 minutes. I did pretty well, but the professor has this annoying habit of looking straight at the person who is on-call and asking rhetorical questions. So I was never sure if he wanted an answer or if it was his turn to talk. And the whole time, he continued staring at me. At one point, I was annoyed so I just stared at him and waited for some kind of facial expression that might have indicated a question. Luckily, it wasn't a question, so I didn't look like a fool staring at him but not answering his question.
time to study up on my teaching case for tomorrow.
