The fourth season finals of the Williamsburg Spelling Bee was not my finest hour. In the previous two qualifiers I won, I went into the third round with no strikes against me; this time I misspelled two words to start out (including "gemmary" [I replaced the a with an e]), and then failed to hang on in the third round. The first season's winner came back to take second place this year. This guy and the eventual champ were spelling MACHINES, cranking out spellings like they were reading them. Nasty, nasty stuff.

Aaaaaaaaaand we've moved. Four floors downward. If I'm correct, none of you ever saw my now-former apartment, and that was for the best; a 450 s.f. studio does not fit two pack-ratty people and a cat very well. The new one-bedroom apartment may not have a view of the Statue of Liberty, but we can still see the Verrazzano Bridge, dammit. A housewarming party will likely happen after New Year's; watch for postings and Evites.

Brandeisians in NYC: Anyone going to the Brandeis House holiday party on Thursday? I haven't been to Brandeis House in a year and a half, and thought'd be a fun excuse to get together and make fun of all of the people who became lawyers. Oh, and get some free food. Anyone? Anyone?
