Free Music Friday

It's highly improbable that many people will read this first post, but everyone starts somewhere, right? Here's a music feature. A song, which happens to also be affiliated with a whole website.

OC ReMix, a site dedicated to spreading video game music awareness and distributing free quality-checked creative arrangements of songs from video games, is the first thing I see when I open my browser in the morning. With several amazing albums and countless impressive tracks in a variety of genres, very few people could honestly say that they'd given it a fair try and didn't find anything they liked.

Also, did I mention it's free? Yes, yes I did. Free is good.

There's also a friendly and supportive community of musical artists young and old, new and experienced, hobbyist and professional.

The biggest problem for most people is where to start, with all of the different games and artists and musical styles. There is no genre sorting option, apparently for the reasons of both difficulty sorting different tracks and also to help listeners broaden their horizons. So here's a place to start, especially if you're interested in electronica that's accessible to the inexperienced listener (like I am).

Mattias Häggström Gerdt, formerly submitting tracks as Another Soundscape, is a skilled arranger who not too long ago worked on the track 'Morning, Thinker'. It's a collaboration with another artist who goes by DragonAvenger and who also provides fantastic vocals for many other tracks on the site. Check it out.
