Got lost in manhattan, which was good, as i got some exercise from it. So, what's the deal with 6th avenue being closed down and covered in trash?

Ah, nothing like getting lost in Manhatten. ;)
If the information of the NY tourist office are in any way correct, there was some sort of free concert event there... or something.

That's pretty cool, except that now I *do* know what I'm missing, since that site tells you what's going on but makes you pay to find out WHERE it is. :p

Why don't you try the phone directory, figure out where the tourist office is and peseter them about the locations? I'm pretty sure that they should be able to at least help you with some of the events.
