Ghosts

Two lovers reminded by the constant solace of domesticated life fear the limits of thier transparency. To shield their offspring from the font of hopelessness congealing at the base of every home, and in chorus with their stoic neighbors, they silently agree to stake no complaint towards their station. They are preserving their timeline just as their parents, grandparents, great grandparents, and every other member of their infinite ancestry before them. What good is it to awaken any reservations now?
Their children will learn as they grow--then act. They'll display the courage necessary to reclaim their nation's spirit. The next generation will be better equipped than this rag-tag human consolidation. For these though, it is too late for reclamation. Their souls drifted too far, complacency has retired their wrinkled husks to the dust and stink of an ever accepting community. The warrior children will learn, once they've taken their own home, the need to rise from the wastes.
But for these two lovers their strength is in their silence. Their turmoil is hidden and their children will be powerful. They'll have the tools. The will. But for these two, they must rest.
