One fun thing I have been doing lately is going to the local dog parks with Dana. Her one cattle dog doesn't react too well to social situations, but the other one, Vala, loves to run around and catch tennis balls, and her big hound Nemo is a very friendly type all round, so we get out to the dog runs at Homestead Park and Anderson Park a lot to ( Read more... )

Yeah, B5 is pretty much a slightly uneven upward trend until it peaks at an entire season of awesomeness in year four, when they thought they might be getting canned and had to finish the main plot. (Season five isn't (mostly) bad, but it's a bit of let-down after the climax.)

Which reminds me, we should schedule bi-weekly hang out and watch stuff and maybe drink beer/liquor nights. Potentially with pizza or other take-out.

Were you two planning to come out to the Nickel on Thursday for the cask night? Daniel might show up, too.

I love the dog park! I remember going with Dana to the one near her place in Raleigh, which was pretty fancy, and watching Vala get caught up chasing other dogs.

That's interesting, because nowadays Vala almost totally ignores any other dogs at the park. If you have something for her to fetch, a ball or a frisbee, it occupies her attention completely. Other dogs will run laps around her and sniff her and bark at her and she doesn't seem to know that they're there.

Nemo loves to run around with big packs, though, that's a lot of fun.

I think it was more that the packs of running dogs were a trigger to get her worked up and ready to do some laps. She usually didn't want to play with the other dogs, just chase them.

It's really weird to me that so many off-leash dog areas here aren't fenced in. I enjoy watching the dogs play at Duboce Park, but the whole time I'm thinking "what if one of those dogs follows a ball into the street?"
