Guess what boys and girls
the other thing that this election CLEARLY demonstrates is just how little our votes really matter. Amongst all the tears and exclamations regarding a "nation coming together to vote (which raw numbers don't really indicate - sorry, but it's still almost an even split)" there's a glaring set of numbers that should cause all of our eyebrows to raise in question regardless of political leanings.
Popular vote (prior to overseas/absentee ballots as reported by Yahoo news)
Obama 52%
McCain 46%
Electoral Vote (from USA Today)
Obama 349 (65%)
McCain 189 (35%)
So why do we still have the electoral college? It's an anachronism of an elitist era when the poor, the black, and the female didn't have the vote. Why aren't we relying on the popular vote now?
