Dear Yannik,
I am pleased to offer you a position in the CSUCI Mathematics Research Experience for Undergraduates. I look forward to a challenging, fun, and discovery-filled six weeks of mathematical research with you and your fellow project participants!
...(scrolling further down in the letter)...
Dates: June 29 through August 8, 2008, and a conference presentation on a Saturday in the fall (or at your home institution for students attending institutions outside of Southern California)
Location: CSU Channel Islands (
CSUCI), Camarillo, CA.
Topic:
Graph Labeling Student stipend: $3000, plus a stipend for meals ($450)
I was at finalist status for the past few weeks, but I didn't expect to get accepted---waitlist perhaps---because they give priority to upperclassmen. Not bad for applying the night before the deadline! So now, I finally have something to do this summer. And $3000 for six weeks of not-so-grueling research is not bad at all, not to mention I am only five miles from the beach, and I can go to the Channel Islands from mainland California easily if I want to. I'm looking forward to this REU. I'm going to learn some graph theory soon.
YESSS.
