[ At first, there's just a faint sound-- something like a worried hum, sometimes interrupted by the sound of items being moved, the soft pat of footsteps, or the squeak of an opening door. After a time, however, these sounds become more frantic, accompanied by the familiar sound of Zetsurin's voice in a not-so-familiar tone.]Razzat! Razzat, where

[He frowns, holding out his arm for the crow to hop onto, and peers at Zetsurin]
Hile. Uh... you've been like that an awfully long time. I'd say it's less than healthy. There's only so much water in you, kennit? I reckon you don't want to go crying it all out before you've had a drink.
[He might be being flippant, but as everyone knows, that's just Bert being Bert. He's actually very concerned, and it shows; his frown deepens]
Zetsurin, calm down. I'm sure he'll turn up.
Oh, Man Jesus...
I'm coming over.

If you don't want me to show, say something in the next five seconds.

About five minutes later, he sits down next to Zetsurin and flicks him lightly on the side of the head. He's obviously been running.]
If your face was any longer, Zetsie, it'd fall right through the earth. Would it hurt you to smile?
Guess what!
[He plonks a teapot and a cup down in front of Zetsurin]
Recompense. Here. Drink it, or it goes in your ear.
[Leans over and pushes the full cup into Zetsurin's hand]

I can and will do this all day.

Cry pardon, Zetsurin, but you're doing nobody any good like this. Just... try to breathe, all right?
[He puts a hand lightly between Zetsurin's shoulderblades, leaning over to look him in the eye]
You had a life before you met Razzat. Ergo, you're perfectly capable of having a life after you lose him. And he's in a better place, I'm sure.
...hard to get much worse, after all...

I.. I'm selfish, I need.. [ Pauses, exhaling a shuddering sigh.] My life.. my life was not here. Before. I've been.. near him the whole time, and now I can't..

You're not being selfish. You're doing what anyone would do when they lose someone, kennit? But you can't do that forever, so... well, so belt up.

How dare you, how DARE you? How dare you talk as if you understand? You-- a child who's probably never loved once in his life-- are telling me to "belt up?" You don't understand. You won't understand. You aren't like me! You don't know what it's like to lose someone like that-- [ And here he breaks off into a stream of what might be curses, but it's hard to tell since he's frequently switching languages-- English, For'yuan, French. Rinse, wash, repeat. ]

[Eventually, though, he gets fed up. Reaching out to grab Zetsurin by the scruff of the neck, he aims a neat punch at Zetsurin's eye - hard enough to hurt, not hard enough to leave a scar. Which is to say, pretty damn hard. He's gone white under the tan, and his jaw's tight]
How dare you? How dare you assume you know me, or what I'm like, or whether I've loved?
[He pauses to shake tea out of his hair. It would be funny if he didn't look so homocidal]
You have no fucking idea, do you, sai Zetsurin? You're calling me a child, but I'm not the one huddling up into a ball and throwing a tantrum when something doesn't go my way! You think I don't know how you feel? You think I've never loved? Never lost anyone? Fuck you.
[He seems to calm down a little at this point, taking a deep breath. His hands are still balled up into tight fists, but he isn't actually attacking Zetsurin any more.]I came out here to try and help, ( ... )

After Cuthbert stops speaking, there's a fairly long silence.. Zetsurin only hunches his shoulders and bows his head, unsure of what to say. ]

Cry pardon. But it had to be said.
