i'm finally here in aklan and the once-a-year total mayhem and madness in this otherwise sleepy town greeted us the moment we stepped off the plane. i was out the whole friday night with esay, drinking a tad bit too much kurant 7 and red wine and by the time we got on the plane, i was waaaasted. but we expect nothing less now, do we?
when we landed in kalibo before noon yesterday, the sun was glaring, threatening to burn our "un-sunblocked skin". it was hell on my hangover and i tried to mask my lack of sobriety from my parents, but it was a relief to see that most of my relatives were in varying stages of intoxication as well. everyone's drunkenness carried on well throughout the rest of the afternoon and early evening, when the "dancing in the streets" ritual commenced. surprisingly, i was the only one of "legal age" there who was drinking water only. i still had a hangover to reckon with, after all. it was quite amusing, to see my aunts and uncles doing crazy shit in public (i'm not elaborating, not to protect their identities but to preserve mine). my mom was having a field day with tanduay while parading through the streets. oh my. i was going around, my tattoo on my back exposed and i couldn't care less about the old folks seeing it. bahala na. these people are laid back this much only once a year. i'm making the most out of it.
it's nice to be back here.
and i can't wait to hit boracay tomorrow morning. harry will be there too. it's such a shame joel can't be here. i miss you, darling! i only wish i could've spent more time with you guys in silver kettle. aww...
