Okay, Subterranean runs in the middle of the night. And one episode recently, they played "Pepper," by the Butthole Surfers. Remember, the song about all the people dying? (No, not "People Who Died," the other one.) And they silence out the words "bullet" and "shot." "Tommy caught a (pause) but it only hit his leg, should have been a better (pause), got him in the head." WTF is even the POINT?
After I saw the trailer for the movie, I'm re-reading Watchmen. (I'm amused that they went with a song written for a Batman movie for the Watchmen trailer, btw.) I'm wondering how they're going to handle it; the history presented is so complex, so dependent on narration that shifts from character to character, that I wonder how they'll fill it in. Strictly chronological is clearly out; maybe just following the same line as the source material would be best. Anyway, the visuals are going to be spectacular; I really hope they don't fuck it up.
