Ruby was pissed off.

She was pissed off and she was frustrated, and there wasn’t anything she could do about it. Sam needed to stop fighting her and start helping her, but until that happened, she wasn’t going to get anywhere on getting Lucifer out. She knew it would take time for Sam to get over his brother’s death, but they were running out of time. Dean had already broken the first seal and now they didn’t have long before the angels figured out what they had done and went to try and fix it.

She needed to make sure she could keep Sam under her thumb. Sex was a start, pulling demons dry was a start, but she needed to get him drinking, and he wasn’t succumbing to that as easily as she would have liked. So when she started to hit that frustrated stage harder than warranted dealing with Sam, she went to take it out elsewhere. Sam needed to be handled with kid gloves.

Demons did not.

She found a collection of them outside a small farm town in Kansas, and by the time she was finished with them, they were a collection of bodies, and Ruby felt a little better. She lit them all on fire so they wouldn’t be found, and then moved on to the nearest coffee shop to wait for Sam. She had left him a note to meet her later, and now all she had to do was wait. She settled onto a chair with a Danish to wait and try to regain the drill sergeant attitude that she knew Sam needed. Even if she was really starting to get sick of it.
