if you can't get through it, you can listen to it

If you've seen them live or seen/heard a recording of Hanson performing 'Hey' live, you probably know that they like to get some crowd interaction going in that song.  And I said...*BOOM BOOM*...and the crowd is supposed to yell 'HEY!" as loud as they can.  And they repeat this, several times, even after Taylor gets done making sure everybody's got the hang of it.

Well, last night, Isaac decided to help out with the encouragement, bless his heart.  And the following is a pretty accurate representation of about how that went.

And I said...*BOOM BOOM*

asdlkuagsasdfl ROTFLMAO

At least two or three times, he walked to either side of the stage, and right after the *BOOM BOOM* part, as we're supposed to be yelling 'hey'...he would suddenly lean forward, thrust his head and neck out and...well, Allison really captured it perfectly, LMAO.  It was the most hilarious and simultaneously terrifying expression he'd have frozen on his face for a couple seconds every time.  I was dying.

Jenny has two more pictures of Allison reenacting what we now refer to as 'Isaac Face'.  You will most certainly be seeing them soon, I am sure of it, hahahaha.

So last night.  Was the best Hanson concert I've been to.  Hands down.  I can see why they love playing Chicago, with the way the entire crowd was just so, so into it.  And you could see how much they were enjoying themselves.  The Minneapolis shows from the last three tours when I saw them were good, no doubt, but the energy level from both the audience and from the band was never quite what it was last night.  It was amazing.

The guys sounded great pretty much the entire night; there were only a few odd mishaps that I really noticed, and nothing that really detracted from the show.  Taylor sounded great and looked positively gorgeous, and I was lucky enough to have a very pleasurable view of his posterior end for the entire night, hehehe.  ;D  And his legs will never fail to amuse me when he's performing.  Actually, pretty much his entire body, because it's like just random parts of him have involuntary spasms - but in sync with the music, of course.  It's adorable how he gets so utterly into the performance.  And it's also very hot.  Hahaha.

It wasn't necessarily the most perfect setlist ever - I would've loved to have heard 'Something Going 'Round' and 'Georgia', but it was still a good set of songs.  They played 'Yearbook', LMAO.  Most wtf performance ever for me - that was the one song I couldn't really remember the lyrics to because I've hardly ever listened to it.  But it was pretty nice to watch Zac's balled-up fist banging on the djembe for the two heavier beats.  Something about it was just...very attractive.  I don't know, LOL.

Isaac dedicated and sang what was apparently his wedding song to Nikki, who was up in the balcony, and the two were all googly-eyed through the whole thing.  Obligatory awwwwwwwwws, y'all!  I couldn't really make out all the lyrics, but it seemed like a really sweet song.  I'm just glad I didn't have to hear Isaac go on his waahmbulance trip with "I'm sooorrrrraaaaaaayyyyyy for beeeeiinnng meeeeeeee".

Or, y'know, SEGABUY SEGABUY SEGABUY SEGABUY SEGABUY SEGABUY....

Anywho.

Got to hear 'Been There Before'.  And I won't lie.  I nearly cried.  Wasn't even expecting that kind of reaction, but damn, they started playing it, and I was singing along, and next thing I knew, I was tearing up.  I feel like a huge dork for it, but oh well.

I'm not going to mention every song, but just a few other highlights:  'Crazy Beautiful' was lovely.  The cover of The Police's 'Hole In My Life' was fun with the crowd interaction.  (I'm totally keeping my fingers crossed for an eventual cover of 'Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic'.  It would be way too much fun.)  'Got A Hold On Me' was fantastic - I adore that song.  'Blue Sky' is love and I was totally gone, singing along to that one.  'Lost Without Each Other' was definitely fun, too.  And they did 'The Ugly Truth' for the encore, and it was fantastic.

I have to mention 'Hey' again.  I love that song live, period.  It's fun and I like the crowd interaction they do with it.  They did an extended jam at the end of it to introduce the backup guys.  Who are AWESOME - the guitarist, hot damn, and LMAO Taylor knelt down in front of him during his guitar solo and I know he was meaning to gesture at the guitar, but I swear, where he put his hands just made it look like he was framing the guy's crotch, ROTFLMAO.  It's like, yes dear, we know he has a penis, run along now.  *pats him on the head*  He makes it way too easy to crack jokes about him.

The opening band, Locksley, were fantastic, as well.  I bought their album on iTunes today.  Definitely the best opening band Hanson has ever had.  They really are enjoying the chance to play for such an energetic audience, you can tell.

I woke up around 6AM (well, I dozed on and off until 7, but still) to see off Jenny and Allison, so I'm pretty tired now and am starting to forget details.

Random highlights I can remember:

- Hanson's mother (I can't say Mrs. Hanson now that there are like, four of them including her, LOL) and two of their sisters came with everybody on the walk
- Their dad getting locked out of the venue, LOL.  Allison and I were leaning over the edge of the railings on the sidewalk while we were waiting outside, because it was a nice break from standing, haha.  But when you look over the railings, you're actually looking down into what I think is probably underground parking/loading and such.  Where we were, you could see a couple doors, and all of the sudden, here's this guy, trying to open the one door.  It's locked.  He goes and tries the other.  It's locked.  Comes back and tries the first one.  Tries pressing some buttons on a mysterious keypad next to the door.  Goes and tries the other door again.  Comes back.  Scratches head.  And then finally takes out a cell phone.  I was standing up there thinking, "This is such a Taylor moment."  Now we know where he gets it from, LOL.
- Isaac suddenly breaking out into a jog when we were out on the walk.  He was a ways behind Allison and I, and I just remember looking back and seeing him suddenly start running, probably to catch up with the rest of us walkers.

And I'm totally drawing a blank now.  Okay, haha, time to end this then.  Allison (
silveripseity)is going to be posting pictures soon.  She and Jenny got tons of pictures, so be on the look out for her entry.

Aaaaand, I'm out.  But yay, concert!
