The Blogger Formerly Known as Lissypoo: So I had previously thought that LJ discouraged or didn't even allow renaming of your journals. But then Lily just renamed hers yesterday. And I've been sick of 'lissypoo' for a while now. So after some brainstorming and several unsuccessful searches in the 'newly deleted and purged' usernames list, I finally found something I really liked.
In other words, hi y'all! This is my new LJ name:
warmsound (Complete with brand new layout! EDIT: Erm, still messing with the layout, LOL. Sorry, I'm indecisive.) If you try to reach my journal through my old username, it'll just redirect you here automatically, so no worries in that sense.
It's derived from Zero 7's song 'Warm Sound', from their When It Falls album. I love the song; I like that's it's (in my interpretation) about getting lost in music, what music can make you feel. The comfort it brings - the warmth of sound. The header graphic I have has lyrics from it.
Speaking of the header graphic, I'd really appreciate honest feedback on it. I whipped it up really quickly just in the last hour since I switch the username and picked a new layout. I haven't used my graphics program in a while, so I know I'm rusty. I'm still a bit undecided on whether I'll keep it, but maybe I'm just being too critical? Let me know. :)
I'm much, much happier with this username. I think it fits me better than 'lissypoo' did - 'lissypoo' is a nickname some of my friends have sometimes called me, and while I'm fine with that, I don't quite know why I ever picked it as a username.
And since the new name has to do with music, I figured, what better title for the journal than one of my favorite bits from 'Been There Before'?

Silly as it may sound, I wish I could kiss each one of those boys on the forehead for that line. Never has what music means to me been put into words so perfectly.

Lisa and I both still have a couple more updates from her trip here, but I think I'm going to wait until a bit later this week to make my next post about that. For now, I'll just offer up a few random pictures.

New shirt + tank top combo I stumbled across at Target about a week and a half ago or so. I absolutely adore it. The color, the print, how it's flowy. :D

This is my last week on the job at the American School. I set it up so that I'll have about three weeks off before the fall semester starts at Columbia, so that I can get some downtime in. I'm all antsy and impatient for it to be Friday already, but at the same time, I'm really happy with how everything went while I worked there this summer. I have had some truly wonderful coworkers and bosses, and I've learned a lot and gained a lot of skills that will be massively helpful in finding jobs in the future.
And in closing, a list of some things that have made me happy lately:
+ fresh, organic plums
+ banana bread
+ movie nights with Oriana (we're planning an 80s night)
+ grapes
+ Travis' newest album The Boy With No Name
+ A Fine Frenzy's album One Cell In The Sea
+ the song 'One Sweet Love' by Sara Bareilles
+ the ever-hilarious OCD detective Adrian Monk
